Thank heavens this superhero knows a little about dressing and a lot about where the underwear belongs!

( bole to Brilliant)
Our own Superhero! We had Shaktimaan on television and now Krrish on Big Screen. Our superhero is more of human and this should appeal to audience. He cannot fly way up in sky but can jump a great distance. He has not come from Krypton but is from the same planet. He is man fighting for a lot of his personal cause than the cause of humanity alone. He does romance with his girl but not as a superhero. There is so much human about this Superhero!
(This review remained in my "draft reviews" for months now. I dont know if this still holds any relevance)
In short: Paisa Vasool.
Highlights:
1. Hrithik and Naseeruddin both have given stupendous performance.
A superhero that looks like one of us.
Music that will catch on gradually. It is melodius.
Lowlights:
1. The pace is not consistent and the movie could have been much faster in first half. Second half is a bit hurried through.
A little more: Those of you who liked the second half portion, you may feel elated to know that the idea of building that machine and the prototype and the basic concept of it was lifted from a John Woo movie called Paycheck. That given, you cannot give credit to the script, screenplay of direction. The credit of entire second half should go to Hrithik and Naseer.
Sunil Pal(the well-known stand-up artiste) once said, "Naseeruddin Shah ke ghar mein bartan kam aur awards jyada hain..." (Naseeruddin Shah has more awards lying around his house than he has utensils in his kitchen). I think all of us would tend to agree that he deserves all those awards and trophies. He is simply outstanding in a role that would have appeared out and out comic if a lesser actor did it.
Hrithik plays his part with total conviction and grace. He seems to do better with his father in directors seat. He is no bunny when it comes to enacting emotional scenes and he is far better than the action heroes of yesteryear when it comes to felxing his triceps. He comes out with flying colours in his double role.
Bad things
Rekha does not act natural while pouring in a kilo of a particular brand of detergent in a bucket to wash 1 (yes, just one) shirt. She looks at the camera from the corners of her eyes to see if the shot will be okayed. Also, I dont understand why would somebody keep Detegent with utensils in the kitchen.
There are so many advertisements. This movie has been made to cash on the hype and to get the unsuspecting children into buying Krrish merchandise (dolls, masks and other goodies).
The story drags in the first half. Second half is the saving grace.
Priyanka is going the Govinda way - wearing unbecoming outfits onscreen. Well, seriously, she is not as bad as Govinda but she certiainly is treading the same path. Hope, she works on her on-screen presence. She has not done anything wondeful when it comes to playing her role in this movie. She is better than average but does not give a performance as good as Hrithiks or Nassers or even the guy who says "Just imagine!" (forgot his name...he has played cameos in many movies).
There is so little of the superhero act. There could have been a couple more fight scenes. But who cares when a movie ends well!
Technical Slip:
1. The computer-aid to show Krrish walking on a rope \clearly looks made-up. His feet go in another line for a few seconds and he actually does not touch the ropes. It looks awe-inspiring, nevertheless.
Final words
Music is melodious and will work because people want to keep a part of the movie with them if they like it. Given, this movie is being liked by kids and grownups alike, the music will ultimately rule the roost. The music is nothing close to being different or brilliant but it is not bad in any true sense of the word.
Cinematography is marvellous and creates the right imapct.
The sets dont look real all the time but they are fine. The emphasis was more on getting the second half right and hence, the second half is spot on.
Direction is not as imaginative as you would expect Roshan sr to offer. It is run of the mill effort. Hrithik, Nasser and some special effects coupled with the fact that it is Indias first superhero on big-screen is going to make it look a very good attempt at direction. I am sure, Roshan Sr knows it and will make a more consistent movie next time.
