Analysis
When charismatic and alluring individuals are forced into an adversarial situation, the outcome is bound to be nothing short of spectacular. Excitement and curiosity are bound to peak. The film capitalizes on this maxim to excellent effect. Clearly, in creating a film so driven by character, Rakesh Roshan showed great insight in insisting that superheroe faces are able to be seen clearly at all times. And fortunately for the director, Hrithik performs tremendously well.
The first half of the enterprise covers all aspects that contribute to the making of a typical bollywood story – the affair , the songs , the tears….Therere moments that bring immense joy to the viewer, like the Priyanka meeting with Hrithik for the first time or the sequence when Priyankas motive come to the picture. In fact, the roller coaster ride in the first half is flawless in terms of writing, execution and interpretation.
Likewise, the emotional moments are hard to forget. Sequences like the one when Rekha narrates Krishna about Rohit (Hrithik Roshan) and Nisha (Preity Zinta) .Naturally, if the batsman hits a century in the first innings, the viewer expects an encore in the second innings as well. But the pace drops in the second half. Also, the goings-on tend to get lengthy and cumbersome as you watch Krishna changes into Krissh. How one wishes the editor wouldve used the scissors sharply to trim or even edit these portions!
Undoubtedly, kRRISH is Rakesh Roshans finest attempt as a storyteller. Not only has he extracted outstanding performances from the principal cast, he has also struck the right balance between action and emotional moments of the film – the two sides of the coin. It is thanks to his mature handling that the film neither becomes an out an out action film, nor a complete love story.Roshan relies on the formal elements of the film to further a sense of intensity and excitement .If his work is top notch, the screenplay is equally gripping, though, of course, the second half couldve been concise.
Hrithik Roshan gives a knock out performance which ranks as one of his best to date! The character is tailormade for Hrithik Roshan. Comparisons are inevitable to KMG and IMO Hrithik Roshan in Krrish is NOT as good as Hrithik Roshan in koi mil gaya. However still he has given the movie his heart and soul and from the comic scenes to the romantic scenes and dramatic scenes he impresses throughout and enacts his part like a seasoned performer. Yet another feather in Hrithik Roshans cap!
Naseer is first-rate and leaves his mark as a rookie scientist with a natural performance. He looks the part he plays too. Rekha is impressive in short role.Priyanka is fantatsic in her part and proves yet again that she is one of the best actresses to come out in recent times.
At the box-office, Krrish has all it takes to emerge victorious. Highly recommended! There is only one area where the movie may not find an acceptance and that is for an audience that is still not open enough for newer concepts. For those who are still trapped in a time wrap of mushy entertainers or conventional thrillers, an outing like krrish may not be easy to digest!
