Hrithik at his best!!!

Success of a sequel depends on the sequel’s ability to overtake the prequel.   If one fail to do that, in my opinion the sequel failed despite its box office collection.   When a sequel is been made, generally one will expect the same genre, but in Krrish, the film is a continuation of the same plot, but it is not in the same genre.   Where the first one was entirely based on Jadoo arriving from another planet, this one is based on the ability of man.   However, not to worry, even though Krrish don’t match the prequel, still maintain the link, grip and worth watching.

The Story

As any description of story will take away the curiosity from you I only brief on story.   Krrish is the son of Rohit Mehra. He got all the powers one can imagine. He can run faster than a horse, fly to catch a helicopter, can cure physical illness with a touch. His love with Priya and his fight for his father’s life is the film all about.

The story is an impressive one. It is not extra ordinary.   Possibility of a good villain in Nassarudhin Shah didn’t exploit in full in the story. Otherwise, the story itself is ok.

PERFORMANCES

All marks to Hrithik Roshan.   100%. We cannot ask for more. However, it is not the same for Priyanka Chopra. The scene where Hrithik Roshan leaving her, thinking she don’t love her was the best opportunity given to her and she failed at that point. Otherwise, she did an impressive beginning and adequate follow ups, but failed to deliver when it demanded the most.

Rekha & Nassaruddhin Shah done brilliant performance. Rest everybody is adequate.

SCREENPLAY & DIRECTION

Rakesh Roshan’s direction is excellent, as usual.   He has extracted best out of Hrithik Roshan.   The young energetic Krrish is anybody’s envy.    The young and old Hrithik is a visual treat to watch.   Technically the film is very good as well.   Even though it is not upto Hollywood standard, it is one of the best technically brilliant Bollywood films. Few problems in the technical side would have corrected, like the one where Hrithis Roshan competing with the horse and in some sequence, Hrithik is much bigger than the horse itself!   All applaudes to Rakesh Roshan.

Screenplay is the one department which should have been properly supervised and combined.   At that point, the director is failed. As the screenplay is the backbone of a film, the experiment with 5 or 6 writers didn’t helped.   Honey Irani touch in the comedy scenes are visible. The romance side of the story fails big times. Thankfully, the action side works good and comedy track is effective. Just imagine that!!!

Character of Krrish is in perfect mode. So is the Rohit Mehra’s.   Priyanka’s character is a big let down. She have no character, thanks to different screenplay writers.   Her character had everything to fall in love with the super hero in India. Still, as soon as she leave India, her attitude changed. At one point she tried to prove that Krrish as Krishna, where all the evidence in the form of Krrish’s abilities in India is readily available with her in the form of a video.   Only a superhuman can do the circus escape and knowing that Krrish is super human, why Priya have to think at all to see the fact? Had she begin her love in India, the character would have hold. To the worst of the affairs, what is the reason she give the second video to the TV where the first 1 kept with her?    Had the screenplay wrote by a single person, using technical advises from others, it would have been good.

MUSIC & CHOREOGRAPHY

Music is very good.   Dil Na Diya stand alone and Chori Chori Chup Ke Chup Ke also leave a good impression. Choreography is excellent and use of technical skills in one song was a good idea which Rakesh Roshan effectively utilized.

CINEMATOGRAPHY, SETS & EDITING

Cinematography is Very good. Editing is not up to mark. The film should have cut by 15 minutes at least.

The Sets are adequate. The set, where the Future computer is kept is excellent.

Overall, the film is a technically brilliant, musically impressive film.   Excellent performance by Hrithik Roshan, nice sets and an average storyline keeps you glued to the screen. The first one hour and the last half an hour you love the movie and the rest of the part, the grip is not there, still can watch for one reason or other.

As of now, I am still thinking what happened to the future computer after the scientist’s death.   I am wondering why Jadoo gone without landing in earth. Hay, go to the theatre on time, as the film is of 3 hours length, the film starts without any trailers!!
