India's very frst superhero

Yesterday I happened to see Krrish, the highly awaited sequel to Koi Mil Gaya. It’s been a while since I wanted to see the movie and I waited with bated breath to see this new product from the Roshan camp.Sine the story has been written many times I’ll stick to my view about the movie.

Story:The story isn’t aything new. Same old good guy, bad guy stuff with a romantic angle with techno wizardry and of course a superhero. The suprhero angle is something new for Bollywood and really should be exploited in the near future.

Screenplay:The weakest part of the movie is the screenplay. The first half is just a drag with Hrithik jumping from one place to another as Krishna and dreaming about Priyanka Chopra.People who like romantic movies might enjoy this part.Once he reaches Singapore the movie becomes fast-paced with the superhero angle coming into the picture. However the romantic angle once again plays spoilsport and messes up the screenplay. In short the screenplay was the main reason why Krrish falls short of true greatness.

Acting:Hrithik Roshan is the body, mind and soul of the whole movie. He is superb as Krishna, Krrish and of course Rohit. The different looks he sports in the movie really suits him.Priyanka Chopra acts well for a rather badly written role.Maninee Mishra and Archana Puran Singh are irritating.Nasseruddin Shah acts a bit like Lex Luthor from the superman movies.

Cinematography and Special effects:This is definetly the high point of the movie. Rakesh Roshan achieves close to 80% of the class of Hollywood in the special effects department which is rather commendable since Krrish is made under a miniscule budget compared to Hollywood’s mammoth standards.Towards the end some special effects look a bit artificial but overall he scores ful marks in this department.

Let’s face it, Krrish is not a perfect movie in any sense of the term. However, when one sees the movie one feels that he has tried to do the best he could in a limited budget. Some may complain about the ludicrous story and script. Let’s face it.This movie is supposed to be targeted at all sections of soceity. Too much science fiction would take out the fun for your common man. Rakesh Roshan could have made the movie more believable but if he introduced stuff like Kryptonian, Cyborgs and stuff this movie would not be really liked by the common people.

In short Krrish is a badly written but highly entertatining movie. One must go and see this movie for the sheer novelty value and the wonderful special effects. Krrish is one more step towards the changing face of Indian cinema.

My verdict would be 3.5 out of 5(rounded off to 4)
