Kuala lumpur trip some suggestions

We  took the trip to KUL on 16 th june2008/our stay was for a week there/ we stayed at the HOTEL CITITEL EXPRESS @Jalan Thunku Abdul Rahman / we took the trip without a guide or a travel agent/ I prefer it that way/

About transport at KUL - the best mode of transport is by BUS also by the MONO RAIL/ our hotel was near the CHOWKIT station so we traveled most of the time by mono rail /it is so convenient& cheaper also/ first thing we did  after getting at the hotel was to get the map of KUL from Mr.Ramzi who was so helpful to us & guided us so much/ from mono rail we got the nearest bus stands & traveled around by bus where there is no mono rail/

Economical & safe way to roam around the important places at KUL is by the HOP on& HOP off bus /it goes around the city  & stops at 22 important places to be seen /u can get down in every place & after visiting the place u can catch the next bus & reach the next landmark/the cost was RM38 for adults& RM17 for senior citizens/ once if u buy the ticket it is valid for 24 hrs/so we found it very easy to go around the city /

About the purchases-- everything is costlier than in INDIA/ except the chocolates/only chocolates r so cheap there/ textiles /electronics/ etc r very costly  /

very good super markets r there like the " UO " group of super markets/ the shopping malls r very costly /the CHINA TOWN is like our Burma bazar /unless u bargain well u may lose /even then u will get only fake items/

about the food - u can find south indian hotels at all important places/also KFC outlets/ u can find  tamil speaking people every where so no problm in getting the guidance when u venture out with out a local guide/ regarding genting Highlands - I dont think it is so wonderful when compared to our Black thunder& the Silver sands/ all they have is only old type of games/ but it is situated at a high alltitude /that makes the place a nice one / there r many buses  plying from KUL  Titiwangsa mono rail station to Genting highlands/the bus station is Petilington  bus station very near to the mono rail terminal station/the cost is also so cheap/only 1 hour trip /

regarding the temples- the Batu caves Murugan temple& the Lord SIVA & Lord Vishnu temples are worth visiting

also the Maha mariamman temple near china town/ u can reach that place by the hop on& hop off bus/

just if we buy the ticket for Archana they provide banana or cocunut or garland  as per our choice /so no need to buy them out side

while returning also we didnt engage a cab /Mr.Razmi at the hotel arranged a bus for us which makes shuttle trips between KUL city& KUL int airport or LCC terminal /very very econoimical/only RM15 per person/the cab will charge RM85 to RM100/the Bus picks upo the passengers at the hotel door step!

the Petronas tower /the KL tower  are must see places /u can reach them by mono rail or by the hop on bus/

i noticed the streets r similar to our chennai streets/not so clean/ every where I saw the water stagnation / rodents running across the streets even in day time!

as I experienced at Bangkok --- never engage a taxi which is waiting on the road side /always get a taxi which is on the move /

in my next review I will try to up load some pics I clicked atKUL /
