So, I completed one more Hindi novel, this time its of Ved Prakash Sharma, and its named "Kubda", which in english means, a man with a humpback. This book is written by Ved Prakash Sharma, and as per the list provided its his 137th novel but its a sequel, a sequel to book released before it named "Jurm Ki Maa" (Mother of Crime), which I havent read since I dont know about it. I somehow got this book, and just bought it. It cost me Rs.30 from a roadside vendor. The book goes for 302 pages, and was published by Tulsi Paper Books, Meerut. It is a suspense thriller, and its main characters only survives just for these two books unlike Surendra Mohan Pathaks famous characters.
Let me tell you about the story, There are 5 friends - Dhaamu aka Dharam, Palli aka Pallavi, Gullu aka Gopal, Chandu aka Chamunda and Sophie aka Sophiya, who were called "5 Jism 1 Jaan (5 body 1 life)", they are such close friends, but they killed one man named Angaarak , who as per told by someone, killed Dhaamus parents. All 5 killed Angaarak in revenge, but this was part of the story of the first book, as per provided flashback. Here after so many twists and turns, we come to know that all 5 are in Jail and by help of a man "Kubda", they were able to run from it. Now, Kubda wants a favour in return. He told them that he is the chief of underworld (Syndicate) named Hingle Corbett, but someone else has taken that position after hurting him badly, and making him a "kubda" person. All 5 helps him in getting his position back, but later they came to know about so many twists and turns in story and find Kubda as their main enemy. Kubda now ants to takeover Afeems business from Mafia located at Pakistan-Afghanistan border, and for this he send these 5 person, and they cant do anything as one of thier beloved uncle, also father of Palli, Ins Girijashankar is captured by Kubda, and he also fit a transmeter bomb in brains of all 5 friends. But they come back and take revenge from Kubda, But in the end no one remains, everybody died in fighting.
Well this story is having way too many twists and too many turns that at one time youll feel like scratching your head. One guy telling one story to other, other guy come up with some other version, and this continues in the whole novel. So, novel is full of unimaginable suspense. Then it is also an action novel, too much of action is there, some of them justified, some of them just looked so unimaginable that you can only laugh at the attempt or thought, an example - they have to find a dome-shaped peak in the cluster of peaks in Himalaya, and they find it just like that, and then they have to drill into it from top, and they did it, REALLY!. But let us see the positive side of the novel - its interesting, and a full timepass. You havent bought it to read reality, you want to get thrilled, since youre aware of the writers other works (unlike me), so it scores full 5/5on that perspective. Some of the scenes really looks impressive like thinking of an underground tunnel. Somehow I got a feel of Devaki Nandan Khatri in him (the writer of worlds best fantasy novel Chandrakanta), so it actually take the reader on a ride, and if you dont think even a micro mm about possibilities, then this novel is for you. Although the writer has given the flashback of 1st novel but still I feel that every book should be completed in its own respect, since it makes it difficult for non-regular buyers.
Ved Prakash Sharma is one of the renowned and well known Hindi writer of India, alongwith the likes of Surendra Mohan Pathak. He was born on 10th June 1955 in Bulandshehr. The publishing company is owned by him. As per the fact available on a site, he has written around 156 novels till date, and is highly popular for Vijay-Vikas series. A famous character born from his pen is Keshav Pandit on whose a tv serial is also been made. His famous works include "Vardi Wala Gunda" "Kanoon Ka Beta" "Keshav Pandit" and many more. He has also written original novel "Lallu" which was made into a Bollywood movie "Sabse Bada Khiladi" (starring Akshay Kumar) and "Suhaag Se Bada", later made into film "International Khiladi" (again starring Akshay Kumar), and for both the movies, he has also done screenplay writing. He struggled a lot to come into existence, but during his Golden phase, some other publishing house also published 3 fake novels using his name - Naam Ka Hitler, Atma Ki Gawahi, and Kanoon Nahi Bikega.
Well regarding this said novel, I will say if your aim is to just enjoy get this novel (also buy its prequel), and read it, it will give twists to your intellectual brain, and give you full timepass and enjoyable read, but if you want to remain intellectual, then skip it. I read 302 pages in 5 days, and right now I am on a spree of enjoying Hindi novels, just today bought a famous novel of Surendra Mohan Pathak, "65 Laakh Ki Dakaiti" and one more named "Teesra Vaar", lets see how are they!. My take for "Kubda" 3/5.
