This was my fourth movement of residence and I had to move from Ahmedabad to Mumbai on 10th May 2014, called up Kuber and A R Cargo after reading some good reviews online.
Found A R Cargo guy Mr.Pravin Kumar (9426529106) sloppy so called Mr.Kamal (9327633844) of Kuber at Ahmedabad office, we negotiated net price of Rs.19000 for entire operation. Gave Rs.500 as advance. Payment terms 80% on dispatch and 20% on delivery.
Issues faced:
The corrugated boxes used were smaller than regular (my past movement experience). Second hand boxes used meant for product packaging. We fell short of boxes and had to use our buckets and cupboards to fill household stuff.
No strapping was done to the box, I was told it is not their practice. Extra plastic film wrapping was done to selected items and was not done to boxes. (Take care during monsoons).
When I complained, I was rudely told that they can only provide me this much and Mr.Kamal continued to tell that workload was heavy in season time and I am insulting him by addressing him in ’tum’ instead of ’aap’ in Hindi. Anyways, I relented as last minute change was not feasible.
After loading, their person Mr.Chandan demanded of Rs.300 as documentation fees, when told all net price has been decided, I was told I will have to pay up since this is their regular charges which is never mentioned in quotation.
At the destination, inspite of being told that unloading labour shall reach along with truck at we had to wait in afternoon heat in Mumbai for 4 hrs waiting for their men to come for unloading.
When we complained to Mr.Kamal, he curtly said such delays keep happening, it’s no big deal.
Have yet to unpack to know if any damage. Have asked them to collect final payment after 2 days since as per them delays are no big deal.
Final word:- They do not use their own trucks for transport so ensure you take details/pics of truck and driver. Go for them if you are on a tight budget and take precautions.
