It is said that this film has been inspired by the Hollywood flick Steven Spielbergs Tom Hanks starrer, The Terminal.
I started watching KUch Meetha Ho Jaaye with zero expections on mind. And Lo ! I found this movie to be as meetha as its title.
A simple flight delay and the consequences. A small group of people who were on board meet and bond in their own way. Strangers become friends and what churns out of it is fun, memories and review of mistakes committed in the past.
KMHJ becomes a sweet interwoven narrative of the journey of discovering and rediscovering love in a short span of time.
Director Samar Khan who is a film journalist-turned-director shows that love is so magical that it can hit anyone at any point of time.
Arshad Warshi as the Airport Manager with his bottle and queer sense of humor has Mahima Chowdhury as love interest. How beautifully the relation or rather friendship is portrayed. Mahimas marriage to the romantic novel writer and English professor is on the rocks. They keep on quarelling and the husband is incapable of telling his wife how much he loves her. Arshad shares the same predicament though Mahima discovers it. What follows is a passionate scene which stops short of a kiss. Here is what happens when movie becomes a reflection of life.
The other high point of the movie is the cigarette end dialogue between Irawati Harshe and Sachin. Though if you think too much on this it appears hilarious.
There are lots of funny poky situations in KMHJ.
Dubey( Jaspal Bhatti) wears a turban and sports a sikh beard because his mom was a sikh.
Praveen the bachelor and the two girls chasing him and the shock he gets when he is informed that his wife to be has run away with her girlfriend.
The cell phone totting crazy guy searching for network all over the place.
The fighting honeymoon couple and the jerk up of the boys who get highly affected by the hot transformation of Mahima.
However I couldnt find any logic behind Mahima suddenly changing from Burqa to the minis.
The teenage lovers and the sweet picturisation of the song Yu rutho naa tum adds to the charm. Another surprise and suspense element in the movie is Sharukh and the magical last 8 minutes.
So many characters and justice to all. The movie is worth a watch.
All that it leaves behind is a sweet bitter feeling of life being a journey where everyone gets love..almost everyone...as Arshad says at the end.
