Kumkum Bhagya is a Zee Hindi TV serial about Pragya who is married to Abhi, a rock star. Initially they dislike each other but gradually fall in love. At present, Pragya is trying to prove that the real father of Tanu(Abhi’s ex-girlfriend) is not Abhi but Nikhil(Abhi’s friend). She has been trying to prove this for the last few months but in vain. In turn, they are trying to kill her.
The pace of the serial is very very slow and most of the events are not believable. The acting by the central characters, Sriti Jha(Pragya) and Shabbir Ahluwalia(Abhi) is totally unconvincing. The background music is too loud and jarring. There are too many coincidences and plot holes in the script. Many medical and legal details are falsely depicted, for example, Pragya’s mother’s complete recovery from a coma-like state, where she can’t move or talk in time to save Pragya. The comedy scenes are either lame or unintentional.
This serial is similar to Pavitra Rishta - that serial also was super-slow and unconvincing and dragged on for too long.
I guess there are people who like this serial - my father watches it daily though he complains about it regularly. I think the time has come to wind it up instead of unnecessarily dragging it on. Ideally, it should have ended at least three months ago.
