The planning Phase: My wife and I are both big time foodies and we like experimenting with different foods and restaurants. We also rely a lot on the Kingfisher Explocity (A Food guide… a review on that later maybe ?) On one of our searches through this book we came across a restaurant called Kund located in Indra Nagar 100 Feet road in Bangalore.
The book also mentions the specialty of the place with the price for a dinner for two. The name sounded interesting and looked quite economical on the pocket so we thought lets give it a shot The look: Well the place is sort of small and dingy and if its one of your not so good days you might have a wait a long time for a seat even on a weekday. It wasn’t the case with us though and we did get a seat immediately after reaching there. Considering that it was quite late and their closing time, they were gracious enough to accommodate us.
If you are used to a Dhaba
(1) sort of place then you might enjoy it. The Execution: We did order the specialty of the place which is the Tandoori Pomfret. I am not much of a fish eater so I can say I found it just about OK but I guess my partner did enjoy it to the full. It’s a typical Punjabi preparation—Just the right mix of spice on the really delicious looking full roasted fish. Me, I need a lot of spice that can make one look like a dragon. The others we ordered were the Dal
(2) Punjabi which was awesome. Again it was the right blend of ingredients and this time it was my turn to go overboard. For my added touch of spice I had a green chilly of course!!! The chicken tikka and mutton seekh kebab was succulent enough to eat the fingers accidentally if one is not looking. The roti(
3) was exactly how I like it, not too soft but not too crisp either. Another one of the accompaniment was Paneer Bhurji
(4 ) (slurrrp!!!). I am not a big fan of paneer either but I must admit I found a new found respect for it after I had this. The Sweet Ending: We ended all this with a phirni
(5) and lassi
(6) which I must admit was a very filling and satisfying experience. The price for all this delightful dinner came to about Rs.600 for two persons!! One another con I would like to include is that the restaurant doesn’t keep a crane to pick up customers too full to get up on their own!!! Do give it a visit and it might just make your day or night as the case may be. The phone number of the hotel is 080-25281416 Bon Appetit!!! For the benefit of the non-Indian readers (Just in case ? ) some of the terms have been explained below
