Films on Terrorism have a slightly different and one-sided soundtracks. While Fanaa *was an exceptional case, others like *New York *which had almost all soft tracks and *A Wednesday or BlackFriday *had no tracks or some. Its Karan Johars 8th film and almost all his films have been musical blockbusters. But theres one more reason too!, thats Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan whose jodi has been in news since last 2 years.
Salim-Suleiman have composed good soundtracks from last few years like Fashion . The duo put one-step ahead in a slightly slip-sticky album which has lack of originality and most of the tracks have been cloned from the duos previous albums.
It all starts with a pleasant, happy, young, romantic Shukran Allah and its all because of Sonu Nigam.Shreya Ghoshal joins him at the end and make the track of the finest of the year. A simple and sophisticated track delivered by two matured singers, this one is best enough to open your mouth wide and say Wow!
Remember Tauba Tauba from Kaal, thats what Dua is very similar to. Sukwinder Singh puts his voice at shakingly typical Sufi track, but the limit is that either you would like the track or despise it.
If you have heard Maula Mere Lele Meri Jaan *from *Chak De India! *, then there is nothing new in Ali Maula. However, if you want a calm and quite mood, then pick out this one sung by Salim Merchant and listen a couple of times and you would be relaxed. Never through, it is a simple track not too much over-tuneful and thats where it succeeds.
Shurti Pathaks Rasiya tries to be sensuous but becomes dull and turns flat. This is a sleepy track and worst from the album.
The title track Kurbaan Hua is heavily picked up from *Nazara Hai from 8x10 Tasveer. Vishal Dadlani puts on his full energy in the rock-Sufi track and it is rest enough to make it a chartbuster. But again, chances are on us for its liking but the truth is, most of us would like it.
The biggest flaw in Kurbaans music is the lack of originality. Salim-Suleiman have straight-forwardly copied the tunes from their old albums for most of the songs and only a couple of songs are original. The music doesnt has much variety except Shukran Allah, all the songs are of Sufi-kind. But a film on a subject of Terrorism has to be particular of it and that makes Kurbaan exceptional.
With a sweet romantic track, a quite Sufi song and a rock-type title track, Kurbaans music has a share of dullness which is over-wrapped by these songs.
Overall, Kurbaan has a mistakable soundtrack, but a no. of good songs turn it into a listenable album. The music isnt great, but enough good to listen to it!
