The sudden upsurge of Ekta Kapoor and her clan of feel-good serials don’t bother about the most important ingredient of a story – sensibility.
The newest among the block is kutumb – with it’s all new avtaar (of having sequels to serials).During one of the days when I was bored like hell, I tried watching a couple of episodes of this serial. But, it was way below my expectations. One just cannot identify with the characters. Though the cast and their acting commands appreciation, it doesn’t make up for the lack of a storyline. Every serial needs a strong script to work and stretch the story on which seems lacking in this case.
The serial tried to potray a wonderful romance between the lead players who are from different backgrounds, but it surely lacked the chemistry a love story should generally contain. Also when the “first Gauri” died, it failed to make an impact. The earlier versions of Pratham and Gauri suited the actors better than the recent ones.
Though the actors emote well and look good in their roles, on the whole the serial doesn’t have a “feel” which is required from a daily soap.
