I was anxiously waiting for one of teh most awaited and HOT pictures to be released on Eid and Dewali festivals as it has the most favourite hotcakes like Kareena Kapoor and Salman Khan together for the very first time and above all it has one of the most talented director PRIYADARSHAN who has masterpiece comedies on his credit like Hera pheri, hungama and hulchul and classic superhit brilliant serious cinema like Saza-e-kalapani and Viraasat. So this timewhen it was known by all that his new venture KYON KI will be a serious one, I and all were not expacting anything less then a straight masterpiece and class of art..but what I received and watched in return of my expectations was a gigantic and sheer disappointment to say the least.
I still cannot beleive that it can be a film directed by a genius like Priyadarshan. OK the script was hutke and story was pretty interesting but what made this film a complete disaster was its terrible treatment, senseless proceedings, immature approach, rushed job kinda scenes, horrible screenplay and half hearted characterisations and poorly executed songs that reminds you B class films of early 90s like Jaagruti, Nishchaiy, chaand ka tukda and prem qaidi etc.
I dont wanna go for the story as all of you knows about it. As I have already mentioned that story was strong and if Priyadarshan would have serious for this film it could have been a very good movie but alas.. God knows what was Priya doing this time or I have a doubt that maybe his 3rtd or 4th assistants have completed this film as it was not at all of Priyans standard at all and no body can beleive that after watching sazaekalapani, viraasat and hera pheri.
Their were many loopholes in teh story.
> Why was the director gave the most inconvincing and pathetic character of a typical villan to such a brilliant actor liek Ompuri that reminds you the senseless negative roles in the ill perceived films of 70s. A character which is much bad and childishly black more then the Ekta Kapoors crap serials.
> Why everybody in the hospital behaves in a way to teh patient that one seriously feels that did Priyadarshan played a practical joke in the name of a serious emotional film with the audience.?
> Why Kareena was so much fell in love with Salman that when she heard about his death she suddenly becomes disable and paralyzed? Ok she felt sympathy and gradually fell in love for Salman but the intensity for soooooooo mush deep love was clearly missing throughout the film.
> Were the skilled and well educated doctors out of their minds and senses that they all followed the totally wrong and objectionable actions, rules and paths of fanatic like Ompuri... ??
> Why the director portrayed the hospital for the help seeker patients as a torture cell of FBI where violence is the first and last rule.?
I think the director was in so much rush to complete this film and he just filmed whatever his spotboys and junior staff told him (just kidding but their is no hint that its a Priya darshans film).
Performance wise it is Kareena who has stolen the show with her solid performance. Just check her in all of the emotional scenes where she looked sheernatural. Salman also acted fairly but in the psychic phase of his character he did some overacting as usual but overall his performance was fair. Jaggu dada (Jackie) has portrayed his favourite role of a man with a heart of gold with complete ease and conviction and was brilliant in his character. Om puri was terribly wasted in a role that can be called a major con of this film, Sunil shettys character was forced in the narration and he did plain average job this time.Remi sean looked attractive as usual and acted fairly well in her special appearance.
Music was slightly above average. Bearing the title track and Dil kay badley sanam all songs were forgettable. Picturisation of the songs were also disappointing and looked like 90s songs that were picturised in luch green open areas without the much use of asethetic sense and new ideas.
The climax of the film felt like a joke that was supposed to be throw in a short time without any background or without bearing the development of the charcters till that stage.
Overall I was terribly disappointed by this flick like I was after watching TRI MURTI(1995) and Yaadein (2001). And I still can not beleive that this illogical, immature, inconvincing and shallow trash was directed by Priyadarshan.
