I was pretty sarcastic when I saw a new Salman Khan movie at the box office. I mean his last film Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya was total crap! I don’t even really like the guy, even though he’s a really good actor. So when my brother borrowed this movie for me I totally freaked out, like that’s the crap you borrowed for me to watch! Oh well, I thought I might as well watch it. The movie wasn’t a disappointment. I loved it. The storyline was realistic, the acting solid. Immediately, I fell in love with the title track and other songs, so I absolutely had to have the album! I couldn’t download it so luckily I managed to buy the CD at and Indian Expo. The album is composed by Himesh Reshammiya and lyrics are by Sameer. So here are my views on the album.
Kyon Ki Itana Pyar Tumko I
This one and the female version are my favourite tracks in the album. The female version is sung by none other than Alka Yagnik, there are two versions by Uditji and Alka and one by Uditji and Radha. All versions are basically the same, and are very well sung by all singers. I thought it was a bit drastic having the same track four times but then it’s a great song. The song starts off with a harmonica intro with Uditji singing the chorus and then it gets faster with the piano and the ‘ohohhohh..’ chorus. It’s also the best song in the album.
Dil Keh Raha Hai
I was disappointed that such a great album contained no song by Sonuji, however it did contain one song by Kunal Ganjawala(does that make up? I think not, no offense to Kunal fans). The song is well sung and Kunal’s voice is just overflowing with passion and feelings. Well, he sounds great but Kunal’s songs just doesn’t get to me the way say Uditji’s songs do. There is also a remix version of this song, which is good as well and made me think the song wasn’t so bad after all.
Dil Ke Badle Sanam
I must say Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik have dominated the album. Somehow it reminds me of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai because I think both albums are the sweet, simple stuff I can listen to when I want something “light, ” meaning not the usual heart-breaking, love songs I listen to mostly, eg. Chup Jaa Chup Jaa (Waqt). Anyway, this song is a sweet, simple love song between the two main people of the story Salman and Kareena, where both express their love for each other. I must say, the first time I heard this song I loved it, well the second, ‘cause I didn’t pay much attention to it in the movie. So when I heard it on CD I really loved it. My favourite part; de chuke de chuke tujhe dil yeh dil de chuke.
Jhatka Mare
Well the CD says it’s by Uditji, Kailash Ker and Shaan, but up till now I haven’t heard Shaan’s voice in this song. I did recognize Uditji’s voice and Kailash Ker’s but I couldn’t figure out where Shaan came in. Anyway, this my second favourite track after Kyon Ki Itana Pyar Tumko. What caught my attention in this song was the are re re..ar rerere, ar re re re ghooli mare tera dupatta chorus which I really loved. Also it’s got this wonderful, simple “idiany” beat. Uditji is at his best in this song and delivers with enthusiasm and really makes you get into the song.
Aa Jeele Ek Pal Mein Sau Janam
This is another sweet, simple love song between Kareena and Salman, though I think at the time of this song, these two didn’t quite realize how they really felt about each other. Yet again, Uditji and Alka take the spotlight to deliver another super, smash hit!
I can’t say anything further about this song, it really is sweet and simple and though I didn’t quite like it when I first heard it in the movie I really do love it now!
And that’s it really for this album. If you haven’t got this one yet, take my word for it, it’s really a must –have for your music collection!
