Govinda and David Dhawan are a never say die pair who are always upto some antics in their movies. The only difference being that David makes Govinda do all the stuff before the camera and he directs it from behind the camera.
Well then, this is their 14th movie together and they are still going strong from the looks of it.Sometimes while watching this film you do get tired of watching recycled stuff and you feel that they could do better but then, you come out of the theatre with a sort of silly smile on you face remembering at least funny one liner from the movie. This is the mark of David Dhawans movies. There are a dime a dozen one liners and some of them really hit home with devastating effect.
This then is the story of a smart lawyer who is prepared to sell his soul to the devil in order to get riches the quick way.So he starts manipulating his way into the heart of Sushmita Sen who 2 songs later becomes his wife.Mind you in David Dhawans movies you do not have the time to think about subtleties like how did this happen and all that. The narrative in his movies just barrels along and you are left to figure out everything foe yourself. So we have smart ans sassy Govinda becoming the lawyer for Ashish Vidyarthi and company and incurring their wrath when he realises that everything that he held dear to himself has vanished into thin air including his wife and child. It is inspired from Liar Liar of Jim Carrey and Govinda is not able to pull a variety of faces like good old Jim does but in the laughter department he is the Ace of Aces.
I sincerely wish for such things to happen in real life that The Almighty gives us the ability to speak the truth at any cost.Such is the case in the smart lawyers life when he loses the ability to speak lies with disastrous and absolutely funny results. It is here that Govinda really brings the house down as he goes about derailing almost everyone who he was pleasant to before. He is a treat to watch.
The fact that a movie is coming to town which has Govinda as the hero and David Dhawan as the director is enough reason to go to the cinemas. But lately, their combo is not going great guns. The zing is missing from their movies. It is there, no doubt about that , but there is a lacking feeling that you have not got enough. For instance, the music is slapdash. It is the typical front bench affair with the usual pots and pans clanging away in the name of music. The last hummable number from a David Dhawan movie was the Sona Tu Kitna Sona Hai from Hero No 1.After that no good songs.Same thing goes for cinematography.Nothing worthwhile here also.Sets are also so so.It is as if David wants to capitalise on Govinda and nothing else. That is not fair. You should pay attention to all the departments. But then, you get into the habit of tolerating such stuff. All said and done it is not a bad deal where we are being doled out trash every friday in the name of quality cinema.
