Diya Malhotra (Aishwarya Rai)is an idealistic, a sensitive girl believeing in love, who is studying and whose childhood was spent in the coffee plantation town of Coorg. Her father, Malhotra (Tinnu Anand) had single-handedly brought up Diya after his wife passed away.
Malhotra sent Diya to Mumbai so that she can help her fathers friend, Raj Chauhan (Amitabh Bachan) who is a bachelor running an orphanage set up in his home. She also plans to write her exams in Mumbai.
Diya stays with the khannas , who are also her fathers friends (Om Puri and Rati Agnihotri). She meets Arjun Khanna(Vivek Oberoi) a carefree, adventurous person who does not believe in love.
Their friendship develops and as a result Diya falls in love with Arjun, whereas Arjun doesnt realise any such feelings for Diya. As a result Diya withdraws her feelings for Arjun.Diya helps Raj in his social work and Vivek follows her there.
Arjun meets Sunil Shetty there (dont know the name in the movie) who had once been with Raj as an orphan and it was Raj with whose help Sunil Shetty had become a graduate. Diya recognises him and when Diya goes around with Sunil Shetty, Arjun starts getting jealous.
What happens then? Will Arjun still continue to be irritating? Whom will Diya get married to?
The story is based on the arguments between Diya and Arjun on love. Its truly an old and ghisa pita type that I am sorry to see the movie.
There is no chemistry between the leads and its not known how can they be a good couple!
Sadly, the script of KYUN! HO GAYA NA… is its biggest drawback.Besides that, there are just too many songs and the movie doesnt seem to end at all.The gradual transformation in Viveks behavior is well depicted and the presence of Sunil Shetty comes across as a twist in the tale.
Vivek Oberoi is more irritating than an amusement to see. His part of playing a toooooo irritative sort of makes you hate him.
Aishwarya Rai now looks too old to play a college student...mind you she doesnt look one bit nice in the movie..although she has done her part well.
Amitabh Bachchan is extremely likeable with his favourite line cmon charlie!. Sunil Shetty is passable. Dia Mirza is there for just one scene. Om Puri and Rati Agnihotri are commendable.
Since this is my 13th review, I thought of writing on the worst topic!
Please Do not attempt to make yourself crazy watching the movie otherwise I have to console telling you - Kyun? kaha tha na nahin dekhna!
