All righty!! So here’s a program that has entertained the entire nation with it’s tremendous drama. Well... to be honest, I never understood the idea of television serials, and I dont watch them. I’ve followed ’Friends’, ’The Apprentice’, ’CSI’, ’Numbers’, ’Vyomkesh Bakshi’ (long time ago), Streethawk and many more. Did you notice all these programs have a different story in each episode. They are real entertainer... You sit, watch and reach the climax in 1 hour. Next time, it’s an entirly new story.
Now we come to ’Saas bhi kabhi bahu thi’. It’s a story of Virani family.. not a regular family like mine.. but a multi billion dollar family... they have endless money and they talk about 2-3 crores like I talk about buying a pair of shoes. Baa, who’s the eldest in the family before her husband expired and she still keeps his rocking chair in her room and infact talks to him very often with lots of background music, rotating cameras, zoom in and zoom out.. you feel it’s a horror story or directed by ramgopal verma’s factory... no.. this is a trademark Balaji serial. And infact it’s Baa, missing her husband. In this family, all ladies wear heavy saris, and mind you very expensive ones. At home as well, they wear the same, and to your surprise, when they go to bed, even then they feel comfortable in layers of make up, tight hair, expensive saris and all that jewellery.. ohoo! what’s wrong, that’s Balaji Telefilms for you. Now we have a character.. ’Tulsi’. She is the perfect Indian Bahu and she keeps everyone happy in the family.. and infact neighbours and even the Pujari at the nearby temple and dhobi wala, doodh wala, bai and everyone you can think of. She is so good, the aunty’s in my neighbour compare her with their real bahu. And all the mother-in-laws want their bahu to be exactly like ’Tulsi’, she is a youth icon dude!! She can never be wrong and will always fight for justice... a superwoman! Dont we love Spiderman, superman, batman and all those super heros! Now this one is for ladies only!
Okay now... some serious stuff. Well, this is a crap serial, one has to and it’s must cry for 5 mins in this serial... someone has to cry, period. It’s a sheer waste of time watching this... people get married, get separate or the spouse die and they get back to previous one. Same goes with the men. Now, kids.. you will never understand who is who’s son/daughter. They usually come back after 20 years to take revenge.
Final Verdict : I dont wanna hurt anyone’s feelings here because I know how some of the people are attached to the characters or serial. But guys, I think there are many many oter ways to kill your time, atleast you’ll be happy and wont cry watching Tulsi crying three times in 30 mins. And it’s not only with this serial... all are the same... Balaji Telefilms, makes Bull serials.
