I applied for my parents health insurance. Father is 70 and has diabetes and hypertension. However both are under control and he is very active healthwise. Mother is 64 and fine and has no health conditions.I also submitted fathers old medical history(nothing recent of 1-2 yrs.)
Company, expedited mothers medical tests and issued policy. It rejected fathers policy application citing Diabetes and BP patient.
Are they expecting to insure only healthy senior citizens? In India, majority of men over 55 has diabetes and BP too. They could have done medicals and checked if the results indicate that the medical condition is in control or out of control. Rejecting a policy based on diabetes like common condition is unfair business practice if they are into health insurance business in India.
