Although I have a generous mediclaim family floater cover of 7Lacs from Oriental for myself-spouse & 2 kids, but always felt the need to have more cover given the number of people running into life-threatening diseases every other day. I was paying about 13.5k per annum to Oriental for this cover, and could have extended this cover to 10Lacs by paying about 18-19k per annum, but just an additional 3Lakh cover wouldnt have helped my case. I wanted more.
Google comes to the scene, and directed me to a number of options. But after evaluating all the optios, namely HDFC, ICICI, MAX, I selected L&T. Their Super Top-Up plan really stood out of the crowd with its generous Cover, and appeared more flexible & wide ranging than the others. Premium for a 20Lakh additional family cover came out to about 4900/-, which is quite decent. Just for others knowledge, this cover kicks in only after you have exhausted your primary Mediclaim Insurance, which in my case is 7Lacs.
Filled their Online form, paid the premium online & waited for the scheduling of medical test. But, it seems L&T being a new entrant needs to pull up its socks in the customer care department, as they appeared to be very lethargic in scheduling the medical test after several follow-ups. Also, there seemed to be very unprofessional gap & co-ordination in their own departments. The medical test was finally scheduled with some third party lab, forget its name, but even they were not worthy enough to be associated with a big name like L&T. So, in total it took about a month to receive the policy in my hands.
To sum it up, if L&T could tie up the loose ends in the customer care department, they do have a winner of a plan in their hands. Would recommend this plan to one & all.Feel free to drop-in any queries regarding this. Cheers:)
