La Pizzeria- Little Italy

AMBIENCE & DÉCOR

A very beautifully done place with comfortable cushion seats n clean tablecloths n finest Italian cutlery, Italian paintings n mini flags. There is ample place to sit as it has a garden sit-out also. Not very crowded on weekdays so u can get a place easily. The Bar is well kept and looks stylish with all kinds of wine glasses kept nicely. I can’t comment on the liquor cause I don’t drink.

SERVICE

Excellent. The captains are well informed about the menu and are very courteous and patient till you make your decision. Feel free to take the captain’s help in selecting your menu as it is very difficult to make out all those Italian names(though what the dish means is written below it in detail). The waiters know their ways to serve so its good to see a restaurant(no its Ristorante in Italian) following it. They serve quick(expect it in 10 min, even the Pizzas).

FOOD

I just love Italian cuisine so I was absolutely amazed with the food, the variety and the taste, and I ate till I was overfull.

Caution: For people who dislike the Bland taste(like my wife completely hates it), it’s better to stick to some basic pizzas, which are really good. I haven’t eaten a thinner Pizza than the one served here(its really wafer thin, pizza hut thin crust well go for a toss) and they taste really good when eaten hot.

I just skipped the soups and the starters, as I wanted to dig in the main course. There are some very good starters and salads, just ask to captain for a good choice.

The Main Course is divided into 1st Course & 2nd Course.

I chose the Pasta Barbaesca(basically a white sauce based preparation with cheese topping and Italian herbs and Brocolli) and the Lasagne Alla Napoletana(that was homemade Pasta in a tomato red sauce with fresh cheese melted on it.ahh it was lovely)  from the 1st course. From the 2nd course the Crocchette Ai Formaggi was amazing with mashed potatoes deep-fried and oven baked.

(Told you the spellings and pronunciations require help. but the captains are good at it)

The servings are pretty decent with a good amount of pasta helping for 3 in one dish. Actually any item can be easily divided into 3 people. The pizzas are 10 inches I guess which also serves 3.

COST

The restaurant is little on the expensive side with all main course dishes at around 200-300 /-. The liquor rates are steep too and so are the desserts.

But its good value for money cause you really get good mouth watering authentic Italian food.

CONCLUSION

Definitely a Must-Go, I would love to go there again.

The Times Food Guide have rated this place as The Best Italian Restaurant in Pune for 2007. So go ahead and enjoy all you pasta lovers.
