Being fed up with the run-of-the-mill yawn yawn high-budget no-plot stuff that is released nowadays it is pleasant to catch up on movies like Laadla. Sure it has been made using all the components of many movies weve seen in the past but it still manages to hold your attention.
Sridevi is a rich, arrogant business woman who is extremely proud of her abilities and sees no need for anyone around her. That is until she meets her match in Anil Kapoor-a worker in her factory. Round after round of back and forth(and plenty of Sridevi mouthingyou understand-you better understand!) between the two eventually leads to aforced marriage which only intensifies the battles between the two. Somewhere in here is also thrown in the whole side plot with the villains-Shakti Kapoor, Prem Chopra and Mohnish Behl who are always after Sridevi and her successful business. Anil Kapoors character is shown to be very close to his mother(Farida Jalal) and lives for her-so when he marries Sridevi and is forced to live as a ghar jamai he is all the more determined to make life miserable for her as he has been forced to leave his mothers side.
All the performances are fantastic-Sridevi beats just about all of the so-called-heroines we see nowadays. And Anil Kapoor-as always is a pleasure to watch playing the middle-class mazdoor(worker). Raveena in a side-role as the other woman who loves Anil Kapoor is good.
The music is so-so(thoughBoi Boi is plain annoying) but the entertaining plot makes up for it.
