The Easy Way Out............

*Year 2001: Hyderabad.

*It was almost 11 in the night when we guys in the night shift were craving for cigarettes in the office, I just took my colleagues bike and slide it down Road No. 3 banajara hills as our office was almost on top of the hill I thought I will save some fuel. Crossed HSBC Circle, ICICI ATM and bike came to a halt right 10 steps from the Bus stop, before I cud kick start it – suddenly a good looking girl in quite a great fitting jeans and T Shirt came forward and gave me a very faint smile, I was surprised and returned the smile, thinking she found it amusing the way I came – she came quite near and asked “Your place or mine?” – it really took me some time to realize what she was asking, I got a shock of a life and realized “Boy O Boy, she is one of those……”

*Year 2004: Chennai.

*Me and my two friends – one of them was and still is quite close to me were in Chennai for quite sometime, an uneventful weekend we thought of going for some “experience” before we got married - that too a professional one. Thanks to Google – I managed to get some numbers – quickly contacted them as we were on prepaid connections and there was nothing to fear, this guy came with a car full of “Escorts” so we can have one of our choice. Starting from college grads to housewives they had everything on offer – depending upon the depth of your pockets.

*Year 2006: New Delhi.

*I also know of a girl who had been in our closely knit friend circle (read males) for almost a couple of years, the usual thing was she will come in her own Cielo, take you around town, offer you drinks or food or whatever in a good resto, will have “fun with you” and will leave you to your place too if you don’t have a vehicle of your own. Right now she is happily married to a guy who will never ever had thought of those kindda things in his wildest dreams – I really pity that guy.

Today: I don’t need to tell you about those massage parlour ads as well as a search “Escorts” on Orkut will fetch you some real time big shots with pics and rates and what ever more you would like to know.

Now, the first case – my friends who are local hyderabadis told me that due to the sudden surge of Engineering, Medical and Management colleges in the city – the situation is like that – all they are doing is making a quick buck and getting it easy too. Second Case is more of a forced prostitution where the lady had 5 siblings back home to feed, although she was a graduate but never got a job which pays her so well – we came to know of this fact as one of us knew her language and bothered to ask her. Third case is of a Rich desperate kid who has got nothing to do back home and no one is really bothered in the family to see what’s she upto? That’s her way of having some fun in life.

Coming to the subject: I was not at all keen on watching a movie on such a sensitive subject coming from Yash Raj banner – as what image I have for them is that they will bloody add gloss to anything and will make it look like a “Beautiful” movie to die for. Second thing Pradeep Sarkar failed to impress me in his debut attempt too (Parineeta). Moreover Pradeep Sarkar has as much say in the movie as Manmohan Singh has in todays Govt. I am sure of that fact.

You can very well see the expressions of Ms Rani in the first 45 minutes of the movie – looks like she is raring to enter that “Natasha” avatar, it really made me smile to see her in that lowly and senti “Badki” character.

C’mon man, neither Neither YRF and company nor Pradeep – I guess only two people cud have done justice to the subject – Nagesh Kucknoor or Madhur Bhandarkar, that way I am sure the movie would have a realistic story / approach and an end which was more digestible.

Movie was in no way convincing right from the word “GO”, the biggest misfit was the good for nothing dad, he should have been somehow disabled to do anything, whereas all the time he was reading and cribbing about things gone wrong rather than doing something about them. Mom’s characters in Indian movies is over emotional these days – as she always gets struck up between the two generations – same is the case here too.

Story: less said the better, a small town girl comes to a metro thinking life would be easier and money will come in from all directions so she can help her family back home and her younger sister will finish off her education well. Finds no helpers out there, lands in prostitution – mind it “By choice”. Remember that dialogue between her, Ninad Kamat and Suchitra Pillai, where after getting fcuked up first time she takes it as a challenge to make it big in the same line (Read Professional Escorts). Dunno what and on whom Suchitra was taking revenge by pushing her into that profession. 20 minutes and there you go, you have a new “Natasha” – WOW. Awesome.

Natasha – Moves in high society, fly’s foreign lands – charges something more than you earn in a month. Awesome! and than worries about her little sis who unfortunately lands in the same metro with a great job in hand. Back home family too flourishes with the money she sends – LCD TV, Home Theatre, Cordless Phone, Marble Floor – the best part is “No Questions Asked”. There you realize – “It’s a movie after all”. Isn’t it?

So at the end of it all – what happens to her life? Wanna take a wild guess? No – not at all – I am sure even a layman can predict an end to any of the YRF movie as they usually have happy endings, whereas every body gets a prince charming – no questions asked.

A couple of songs – you will forget in a weeks time – a great scenic background – all the time – throughout the movie – may it be Varanasi or Mumbai or Zurich for that matter.

A spoilt son of a Super Star – who keeps a “weeks beard” thinking it looks cool on him.

An unnecessary love affair to add up some more footage to the movie with Kunal Kapoor and Konkana Sen Sharma to give some more glossier feel to the movie.

A movie which fails to give a message – if at all they really wanted to give a message in the real life. Dunno how the next gen is going to take it – I would love if everybody just sees to forget it, as it gives a wrong message more than a fake real message. As what they show in the end – doesn’t happens in the real life – not that I have heard of in my life of last 30 plus years. Please share with me if you have heard of that anywhere? If you have seen the movie or stay away from it.
