Since my city is hot and humid, I find even the lightest make up pore-clogging and uncomfortable, so I go natural most of the time.
Ive recently re-discovered good old Lacto Calamine - mom has been using the stuff faithfully for the past few decades, but I never gave it much thought. I recently picked up one of those sleek 60 ml bottles of LC classic, and am using it as a skin care product that doubles as light make up.
Mainly, I am particular about what I put on my skin because Im terrified of chemical cocktails that are probably horrific in the long run. I find it easier to trust LC because women I know have routinely used it for decades now.
Anyway, right now, since it is cold and dry here, I wash, tone with Dabur Gulabari (rose water), and moisturize+ apply base with a blob of LC mixed with a drop of coconut oil. The oil moisturizes well, but isnt visible or greasy because of LC, and over all, I have a great moisturizing make up foundation. Over that, I dont add anything further. If I can find non-greasy sunscreen, I would actually mix that in with LC and the oil. Ill try that and post reviews.
In summer, the oil will be obsolete because my skin tends to get greasy anyway. So I am thinking of using a blob of LC, watering it down with rose water, throwing in some high SPF non greasy sunscreen, so I get it all, and the watering down might keep LC from making me sweaty, which happens with any base in the summer.
I usually like to make my own blends according to weather etc, and I find that LC is a cheap, versatile product that lends itself well to experiments, and has been trusted for so long.
So, Rs. 29 for a 60 ml bottle that will last you at least a month. Trusted, mild, effective, cheap. Play around with it and see what works for you.
