Maneesh Sharma made a movie named "Band Baaja Baaraat" in 2010 which got a good appreciation, despite of a new hero, so this time to encash the popularity of energetic actor Ranveer Singh, he made another movie, packed fatafat in a sizzling cover and presented it to the audience, matching the release date with his earlier movie. But yes, if you do fatafat packing, something youre going to lose, so is lost here as well. Unlike BBB this movie becomes strictly a one time watch, thats it.
Now, lets discuss the story. Theres a conman, who used different names and con the ladies all over the world, sometime with the name of Sunny Singh, he con Delhiite punjabi kudi Dimple Chaddha (Parineeti Chopra), sometime with the name of Devan Shah, he con a working Mumbai woman Raina Parulekar (Dipannita Sharma), and sometime with the name of Iqbal Khan, he con a shy Lucknow widow Saira Rashid (Aditi Sharma). But his real name is Ricky Behl (Ranveer Singh). Now all these women want to take revenge, and want to get their money back, they hire a Home-Town salesgirl named Ishika Desai (Anushka Sharma). But in the end shi* happens, sorry... I mean Love happens. :O
So, story (Aditya Chopra), not much of a thought, its just like mixing a senti Bachna Aye Haseeno with stylo Bluffmaster. Screenplay (Devika Bhagat) was even worst, especially the 2nd half, the movie becomes so predicatable and boring, I felt like someone just wasted a good opportunity of 1st half. On one hand, where the 1st half was pacy, entertaining, laughable, on the other hand, 2nd half goes boring, predictable with all the magic teared off. In BBB what works was Anushka and Ranveers chemistry even though its 2nd half was also a bit slow, but it works, but here, chemistry was not required, since both didnt get much time for overlapping, moreover, other 3 actresses got more space and good character than Anushkas. Seeing the fast release of 2nd movie by the director, I expected a big mistake, so I enjoyed a movie to the bit, since I didnt expected much this time, as it tends to happen in bollywood with everybody else, how could Maneesh be exception (Raju Hirani is an exception though). Ranveer Singh was as good as he was in his previous movie, hes innocent and look less like a conman with an innocent-looking face. 2nd best performer was the Dilli girl, Dimple, Parineeti looked cute and lovable with her role and acting. Rest was normal, and Anushka doesnt have anything new to do. Climax suddenly turned a con movie into a romantic one, which I personally didnt liked, it can be improved a lot. Music (Salim-Sulaiman) and songs were forgettable, only catchy song I found is the title track "Aadat se Majboor" sung by Benny Dayal and Ranveer Singh, it has beats, and some foot-tapping music. Background score was not upto the mark, they have used old movies music (i remember 2 tunes, the main one I think belong to Disco Dancer, used a lot in 2nd half).
I watched this movie yesterday (its now 2am) late night show, with a house-full cinema, and enjoyed it with the minus points. If youre looking for chemistry between the lead pair, youll get disappointed but if youre going for a timepass, its a good timepass. My take 3/5.
