This is my first review in mouthshut.com. In fact, this movie ’Lady in the water’ intended me to write a review on it. I never thought of writing one such in any web site. Hmmm...2 1/2 hrs of horrible time today, it was pathetic and ridiculous movie. I am well good fan of Shayamalan. I was so impressed on him for his excellent movies like Sixth Sense, Signs, Village. But unfortunately now I really feel bad. Maybe reason is that this is the first movie he written as well as directed. He proved himself as a one of of the worst writer. Now a days he thinks himself as an intellectual story teller in a hi-fy way. Normally it happens for newcomers who gets come blockbuster luckily. They act as if they are so smart in direction. Here he proved himself as pure American Born Desi and made all of us as nuts. I would like to tell some reasons. First the plot of the movie. Some strange junk bed-time story. I never heard about it. He can make cartoon movies. But not real time movies. Go watch Monster Inc., which is of bed time story only. But you will find the amazement of movie making in that. Second thing is that the way he picturised. It was like third class drama. You will feel like you were out of an apartment. People say that production budget was $35 Million. But god knows where he spent all those. He could have taken this movie in $ 2 million. Third thing is that horrible camera. Some one appreciated the camera work in this movie. I really got amazed about that review. You can see only people’s face in 35 MM. He does not show anything else. Only close up shots. Your eyes will start burn for sure. Worst camara angles as for as I know. Fourth thing is that climax. As usual, he has junk strange animal in this movie also and he used only that as key for this whole movie. Horrible. Fifith thing is that horrible sentiments. People are cyring and speaking like nuts. Shyamalan thinks Americans are nuts. He assumes himself he only knows Americans very well by trying to tell about American’s life. Last but not least, Shayamalan’s acting in this movie. I don know what to say. He used to show himself for few minutes in his previous movies. Now he started showing throughtout the movie with this bloody sentimental dialogues. God he is not in India. Otherwise, he would try to act as hero in all his movies. And we all should bare it. Stop acting Shayamalan for god’s sake. At last he made all of us as fool by his idiotic story telling way.
Two Americans sitting next to me when watching the movie, commented, ’Horrible’. Hmm...What else I can say.
