Based on India’s biggest passion which was recently crushed by a scandal-Lagaan (The tax paid by the farmers on their produce to the British) is an excellent creation by Aamir khan takes us back in time of the 19th century in a small village of Champaner in Gujarat. I waited a lot for this movie from the time when big B’s voice was only thing I could recognize and I used to keep on guessing which actress it was (Remember, Aamir was giving “oodni” to some girl)…to the current ad or the preview.
A movie with no flaws and personified performances, awesome sets, costumes (especially the ones for Rachel Shelley), cinematography, funky music, songs and choreography simply starts with a drought occurred at the time of monsoon and ends with a rain shower. When I bought the cassette of Lagaan, I didn’t like the songs sooooooo much as I am crazy now about the songs after watching the film. The picturisation of each song especially “megha” when the anxiety filled villagers face towards the sky and their shadows are covered by the clouds is so good that I don’t have words (u can see that!@)
Talking about the new Gracy Singh or should I say Dinky from Amanat has acted well and will do good for the roles of “gaun ki chhoris n goris”
I don’t know what to say about Aamir as he was FaNtAbUlOuS. The other cast such as Captain Andrew Russell (Paul Blackthrone) and delicate darling Elizabeth (Rachel Shelley) have done a good job. The others who were in the team consisted of Lakha (woodcutter), Kachra (sweeper), Bagha (mute Drummer), Ismail (the potter), Arjan (blacksmith), Ishwar Kaka (the vaid), Deva (the sikh), Bhura (murgi guy) and Goli (a farmer) and Guran (the fortune teller) have played their parts so well that I can’t choose that which is my favourite.
The interesting story about…combines our culture with India’s passion and can be called as a tasty cocktail. I hated it until I saw a lagaan. The audience participation was something like sitting in a cricket stadium.
The incredible audience of bangalore made the most boring song “o paalanhaare”started clapping and praying for the film as if they were actually sitting in a temple
I wish Aamir was here to see us when we were watching LaGaAn.
I don’t wonder what made him so long for this movie!!#@
