Munnabhai is back !
This time with GANDHIGIRI in place !
Many people gave me a mixed feedback for this one , some felt its just gyaaan . some told me its a great humor , many told me that the director is using Gandhiji very very very intelligently to make money !
I agree with alll the above and yet believe that the movie is well made ! not only for the gyaan but the overall understanding of cinema as a medium shown by the director !
it is a subtle one - makes u remember the things which all of us have long forgotten in the race of life ! all of us forget the basic lessons of history or to be precise , Indianness , till some Atenbero comes with GANDHI or till someone starts a controversy around these people !
Munnabhai tries to remind u of these forgotten lessons of life ! its not just about gandhiji but about all those immortal truths in life which we have forgotten in our race to excel in corporate life , in personal life and in every field of life !
I have vehementaly written about Munnabhai in the role of MBBS , that the director wants to create a comedy using the "gaps" that exist in the society today !
Munnabhai II reminds u of the chasms , rifts which are present our own personalities today ! we have dumped the basic principles of life in one corner and are trying to move ahead using the most convenient things in life - shares , stocks , loot or whatever ! He simply makes u remember of those tougher yet better things in subtle manner !
the background is love ofcourse ! it is this love only which makes a person do the tasks which are not easily possible ! munna reading about gandhi talks about the same !
trust me it is apparant that he has nothing to do with Gandhiwaad or principles of gandhiji in the beginning of the movie , but as and when he moves ahead , strength of these principles is so high that they encompass u with themselves !
This is where we understand Gandhiji as a person and the reach of his thinking beyond the limits of time , tide and the way in which world is progressing !
Another strenght of movie lies in the character of Munnabhai - who translates Gandhiji’s idology into the local lingo and as per the changed times ! it is a very rudimentary representation of his "SIDDHANT" but have an impact for the simple reason that common man understands it !
Munnabhai’s character is a strength and Sanjay Datt gives justice to the same!
Hence , although the director is using Gandhiji for making money , although it is a very crude representation of Gandhiji’s thoughts , yet the director gets full marks for choosing a script which enhances the image of Gandhi - not only as a person but a life style , a thought process which is eternal and can take the world into its stride -- to make it a better place.
