Im stumped! Seriously speaking! I had never imagined that a movie could be as good as Rang De Basanti. LRMB Rocks! LRMB is not a sequel to Munnabhai, but rather an absolutely different episode in Munnas life. The reason why Ive rated this movie is quite simple which youll read soon.
The movie begins with Munna and Circuit kisnapping an engineer in a hilarious way. Lucky (Boman Irani) wants him to vacate a bunglow to gift his daughters in-laws as a marriage gift. Munna, on the other hand falls in love with Jhanvi (Vidya Balan) who is a radio jockey.
Gradually Jhanvi alo fals in love with him. But Munna does not know that Jhanvi lives in that same bunglow with her grandpas friends.
Lucky cheats Munna and illegally gets ownership o the bunglow. Now Munna must get the bunglow back, but with dadagiri, but Gandhigiri!
The performances are strong, by everyone. All the lead actors have a good part in the film. Sanjay who plays the lovable Munna gives a good performance yet again. His dialogues are funny and his scenes are a treat. Arshad Warsi plas Munnas right i.e Circuit. I feel Arshad has performed the best of the lot.
I cant believe that this is Vidya Balans 2nd film. Her acting is not inexperienced type at all. She does a wonderful job too. Boman Irani plays Lucky Singh and a does a good job too. He is not as good as he was in Munnabhai MBBS. Overall, the performances are rock solid.
The music is hummable. Most of the bollywood movies have unnecessary lot of songs. But thats not the case with LRMB. There are just three-four songs which are not boring at all. Pal Pal and Lagey Raho are very nice to hear. The other songs are also good and they mix with the film very well. Most of the songs are sung by Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi themselves. Overall, I can say that spending Rs.150 for its audio CD would be worth.
The technicalities are handled quite well. The direction by Rajkumar Hirani is impressive. The screenplay is simply superb. The film is neither too long nor too short. The screenplay is tight and there is never a moment when you yawn. There are no action scenes in the movie. The videos of the songs are full of bright visuals which gel nicely with the songs.
Now its time to analyse the film. What makes LRMB so special? We have seen so many comedy films, havent we? But have we seen a film which gives you plenty of good laughs and also a good message? LRMB is such a film. Youve heard so much Gandhiji in your life. But have you ever tried to follow his ideals? Can you love your enemy? Can fight your enemy peacefully? Munnabhai does so and practically. And he teaches us to a great effect how our life can become easy if we handle matters peacefully, how some sensitive matters can become easy if we are truthful. This is no documentary film on Gandhiji. But a once in a lifetime entertainer which has every ingredient like humour, emotions, romance etc. to entertain you.
You cannot afford to miss this film, really. A must watch and highly thought provoking.
Please rate and cooment. Thanks!
