Lage rahoooo

LAgeraho Munnabhai

Sahi hai bidu .. ek dum fit hai bole to jhakaas... that description would perfectly convey to the people who understand the bambaiya language I just showered the film with a whole load of compliments

While a lot of flattering things have been said and read about the sequel of Munnabhai MBBS, I have a few questions that come to mind after seeing the film.

First and foremost which Indian doesn’t know who Mahatma Gandhi was ? It is a little hard to really digest that fact.

Lageraho, although not a really a sequel in the true sense, it still feels nice that the film has been taken well by the audiences.

The first one had Munnabhai aka Sanjay Dutt chase a doctor’s daughter and in this case it is a radio jockey. Sanjay Dutt even then was too old to romance heroines and in this one is just a tad bit older.. don’t you think ?

Don’t get me wrong ... I am not saying that I did not like the film or I did not laugh at all the punches or moist my eyes at all the emotional scenes. But I guess that is what I have a problem with.

In comparison, I think I preferred the first film to this one. For the simple reason that the first one was more honest and this time around the makers have ensured to put in all the masala ingredients in the film.

Circuit crying ????? really gimme a break...

On the other hand it is nice that an original writer has the pulse of the audiences and knows what will work at the boxoffice. But is filmmaking just that?

As a means of entertainment it is a great film. And on the same account, the father of the nation too has been used just to raise a few laughs.

The principles of Gandhiji or gandhigiri does help crack up the audiences but does it even have an effect on them once they walk out of the theatre? I think not.

Contrary to a Rang De Basanti which was entertaining and yet hit you where it hurts, Lageraho lacks that punch.

One could even do away with all the songs in the film.

Dilip Prabhakar as Gandhiji makes an impressive impression. The rest of the cast is good too and Arshad Warsi rocks.

Like Sanjay Dutt says in the film - it is good that Gandhiji is not around to see the state of his country ... I am sure he wouldn’t be too pleased to see him a result of some chemical locha either ... wat say !!!!
