Messages of Munna Bhai

Some years ago I had assumed that days of making

quality movies with a good message to

the masses are over. but I was wrong Mr Hirani has

proved me wrong.

I don’t want to go into the mundane story telling of

Lage Raho Munna Bhai as most people have done it

already. I want to confess that LRMB has touched me

in many ways.

just as Munna MBBS made us think with a smile

likewise LRMB has done it again with more punch.

Mahatma Gandhi who unfortunately some years ago had

become the favorite punching bag has made a come back

with LRMB. Dadagiri of Sunny Deol Types has been

replaced with Gandhigiri!!!! Gandhigiri? I want to

salute the genius who has come up with this beautiful

term called Gandhigiri.

Mahatma Gandhiji has been portrayed in such a

sensitive and dignified manner. esp the conversation

between Gandhiji and Munna Bhai where Gandhiji

explains to Munna Bhai that after his death still

people remember and respect him rather than his

assassin.

moreover director has made sure that the

Gandhiji is not real but a idea which Munna Bhai is

obsessed with thus making all superstitions and

illusions clear.

Appart from the idea of Gandhi there were several

other messages that came out in LRMB the scene in

which the anonymous girl calls up Munna Bhai asking

for help in choosing the right guy and Munna Bhai

tells her to see how the guy behaves with people from

lower strata of society . The practice of shussssssh

shussssssssssh which most of use for calling waiters

was denounced and many of us realized we were no

different from that guy.

Astrologers and Numerologist will curse LRMB for it

has kicked them where it hurts. The climax where Munna

Bhai tears the superstitions apart is remarkable

My favorite scene in the entire movie which in fact

brought tears to my eyes believe me and its the first

time I ever cried in a movie was the scene where Jimmy

Shergill has to confess to his father that he has lost

his fathers hard earned money in stocks

Guys believe me generations to come will salute the

Munna Bhai series and we are fortunate that we are

part of it. Hats off to all those behind Lagge Raho

Munna Bhai
