Put Anu Malik on a leash

Lajja

Music director: Anu Malik

Song list

Aa Hi Jaiye

Comments: Modern Kichari

Analysis:

This song begins slowly with a slow sensuous vocal, which then is followed by a completely different form of modernised music with many sound effects, readying the listener for the main track. The vocalist seems to now adopt a more upbeat and to some extent erotic vocal and this follows into a nonsensical, yet catchy chorus. The song does not comprise of much lyrics, the only highlights of the song is the nonsensical chorus and the vocalist. Yet there is far too much modernised music in this song and not just in one form, it seems as if Anu Mailk wanted to put everything in here, lots of forms of music and lots of sound effects and in the end it negates the whole song.

However this song is catchy and it grows on you after a while.

Saajan Ke Ghar Jaana Hain

Comments: Better can be found in much older films

Analysis:

This song begins slow and the vocal’s have depth and are very deep, however then a more modern instrumental sequence follows fused with the classical Indian. The lyrics are profound and seem to be depicting a story, hence this song maybe pleasing when accompanied with visuals. The modern instrumentals gradually become more classical though the background music sounds to modern for the classical overtone of the song. With the vocals and classical music entering, the modern beat becomes unnoticeable , however when this fades the background beat becomes more noticeable and it seems completely out of place from the spirit of the song. The entire song seems to be reminiscent of ’’Arzoo’’ in fact it would not come as a surprise if that was intended.

The entire essence of this song is fairly good, however the fusion of a modern beat is uncalled for and does not do this song justice. All in all perhaps it would have been a better idea to borrow a song from ‘Arzoo.’

Kaliyug Ki Sita

Comments: Profound and finally no explosions!

This song has a very slow class ical starting and with a low and profound vocal , in this instance instrumental music reflects perfectly on the profoundness of the https://lyrics. This song comprises of classical instruments and lacks any modern overtone. This song is very profound, effective and fits its portrayal very well. The vocalist keeps everything interesting, the lyrics here are also depicting a story. The song is very slow and would only be enjoyed with visuals, it seems as if the song begins on the aftermath of some disaster.

Jiyo Jiyo

Comments: Maro Maro!

This song begins with an electronic techno voice and then some vocals appear, they get more intense and then a modern instrumental sequence follows. The lyrics in this song are absolutely pathetic, ’’Life is just like ice cream’’ and believe me they don’t get any better than that! The entire track comprises of a million type of sounds effects and modern music effects and just for good measure, Anu keeps repeating the annoying Chorus! The ending of the song is very abrupt!

Badi Mushkil

Comments: Badi Mushkil listening to this!

This song begins with a very classical drumming instrumental and again it seems reminiscent of an old song .The lyrics are terrible and somehow don’t make sense!. Some of the musical instrumentals do not fit the flow of the song. For some FREAK reason, there is some Irish music which quicky transforms into some other form of music and before you can say, ’’Badi Mushkil’’ its transforms back into classical! However I have seen some visuals of this song, and Madhuri dance is seriously mesmerizing, almost reminds me of her famous number in ’’Aanjam’’ , ’’Atra baras ki kuwari kalli’’ except that was ten fold times better than this track!

Kalyug ki sita 2

Comment: Not as good as the other one, but has much more dramatic vocals

This song starts of with gusts of wind, however fused with modern instrumentals, then the background music disappears and the vocals appear, shortly the background music with the modern overtone appears again and then the vocals commence.

The modern background music is very annoying! It should be taken out.

The vocalist has a very emotional and dramatic projection in her voice and also depicting a story, though its effect is weak due to a mocking background score. The background score has totally negated the entire beauty of the vocals!

Kaun Dagar

Comment: Well definitely not another, ’’O Paalanhare’’

Slow and average musical beginning, then a dramatic music follows, although perhaps a more lesser volume of music should have been used during the vocals. In some instances incorrect form of sound effects have been used however most of the sound effect only further the power of the song. The entire song does reflect its dramatic feel and it lacks any form of modern overtone. The lyrics are very beautiful and the song will do well with visuals. The Kaun Dagar chorus is pretty profound. Lata Mangesihkar’s beautiful voice has given this album a new lease of life. However this is no, ’’O Paalanhare’’ (Lagaan) and it certainly is one of Lata’s most worst sound tracks, but it is still blessed with her magical voice and will find its way into others peoples hearts as well.

Conclusion:

I am looking forward to this film and I am expecting its going to explode the box office.

Lajja’s music is nothing special and it definitely is not worth getting. However the music may find acceptance when accompanied with visuals. To me it seems like Anu Malik is obsessed with using every sound effect, music effect he can get his hands on! Next director who employs him, should keep him on a leash!
