I don’t usualy like to write reviews on new movies, they suck anyways, but I was watching zee cinema and this movie was on and I remember how total bs this movie was, there was only one reason I watched this movie because of suniel shetty. I as pretty excited to see the movie, because I thought it would have been a good one. I was wrong.
The movie is directed by a new director ahmed khan, has a big cast, sunil shetty, sunny del, john abraham, sohail khan, nauheed cyrusi.
Lakeer is about arjun rana (sunnydeol) an underworld don with some principles. He has raised karan(sohail khan) who is not real brother, but he raised him like one and bindiya (nauheed cyrusi) who is not a real relative but, brought up by arjun’s good father who he refers to as baba.
Then there;s is a another brother due sanu ( suneil shetty) saahil (john abraham). Sanju is only a motor mechanic but sends his brother to the same expensive school, where karan and bindiya also study. Bindya and saahil loves eacher, Karan who is a spoilt kid also is in love with bindiya, but cannot express his feelings.
There is confrontation between karan and saahil leading to saahil getting seriously injured, more because of karan’s friend ronnie ( apoorva agnihotri). In a fit of anger sanju beats up karan by mistake and he is admitted to the hospital. Sanju is no match for arjun but when arjun rana finds out that bindiya is in love with saahil and it’s actually karan and his group that is wrong the movie movie moves onto some unexpected climax, like we cant guess with the flow of the movie.
First of all the movie doesn’t make any sense, the story is more emotional then being an underworld don movie, sunny didn’t have to be a underworld don, he could have been a rich businessman. The story takes a turn in the second half you expect sunny deol to do some action`sequences where a movie turns into a love triangle.
The movie has some good executed sequences. The music by a.r rahman is not his usual , nachley nachley sung by daler mehndi and kunjal ganjawala is a nice song, I don’t like daler mehndi, but he does a nice job here. paigaam was an average song where shehzade was well sung by kunal. where offho jalta should have been left out. The movie has so many songs in the second half. The thing I found the most funny in the movie was they tried to make indian schools more like american schools girls with pom pom, boys playing basketball, where they can’t even handle the ball in their hands.
performances wise,
Sunny deol pisses me off in this movie, I know he’s good actor, but you don’t have to yell in emotional scenes. He was so good in ghatak in emotional scenes where he finds out that amrish puri has cancer. In this movie anybody could have done his part, paresh rawal, anupam kher would have done this just be an older brother. John abraham gives his worst performances in this movie, I don’t care if girls like him or not what he needs to do is get some acting skills, the scene where he tells suniel shetty that they burned down the whole village because him, just watch his mouth his dialogues. Sohail khan is alright, he should do better then this because he is a movie director he needs watch his dialogue delivery. Apoorva agnihotri is probably worser then john abraham, first when he came in the movie pardes of course the movie rests on shahrukh khan’s shoulders, Then he’s in the t.v serial jassi jaisi koi nahin, he probably one of the worst actors around. Nauheed cyrusi is allright.
The reason I watched the movie because of sunil shetty, probably he steals the show and gives a great performance, his new look was loved by everyone, The fat chain around his neck his shirts and his hair style. I loved the scene when he beats up sohail khan and warns everyone that this is going to happen to everyone who ever messes with his brother. I would reccommend sunil shetty be taken into gangster film.
You probably wanna avoid this movie, but only want to watch it if you like sunil shetty.
