Hi everyone...this is my 2nd review in MS..and the 1st abt any film.... I wanna add that I really like this forum and Im getting adddicted to it just as cigarettes!
Ok...lets go to the point without much delay.... 1st of all, I went to c Lakshya bcoz of Farhan Akhtar n the star cast....I had seen DCH atleast 15 times n it was a masterpiece ..it was a movie of a lifetime....i wasnt expecting anything better than that in Lakshya but I hoped to c something sensible n entertaining in this movie....n I was not disappointed at all.. heres my opinion on the various aspects of the film:
Story: The story is nothing new....lakshya can b seen as a war film or a journey from a boy to man.....the story is nothing new...n it is very very predictable....i was expecting something more from Javed Akhtar...nevertheless, much better than the crap we get to c everyday
Screenplay It is in this department that the film lacks...the screenplay is slack at times and the movie gets little boring at times...the editing could have been much better.
Music: This is ok....after DCH, we were expecting something as path-breaking and fresh as DCH..but thats not the case....2 somgs agar main kahoon and main aisa kyun hoon are very gud....the somgs have been brilliantly choreographed as well...no hero dances as well as Hrithik!
Cinematography: This is the best part of the film....Farhan had hired a famous German cinematographer for this film - Chistopher Popp .... and man, believe me he does a terrific job in portraying the eye-filling visuals of Ladakh.....the rock-climbing scene in the pre-climax has been wonderfully shot...and it reminded me of Stallone-starrer Cliffhanger....it shows that Hindi films have come of age....that scene itself is worth atleast half the money of the ticket!
Direction: This is 1st rate...Farhan akhtar has a very distinct style of portraying the emotions n I like his style...n he is a gr8 technician as well...the film can boast of tremendous production values which are at par with Hollywood I believe...I hope to c much more of Farhan in the future...He is one gud thing that has happened to Bollywood who I believe will not be influenced by the CHOPRA-JOHAR genre of film making..
Acting: Hrithik is fabulous..he gets ample scope to display his acting as well as dancing abilities and he excels in both.....though he goes overboard a couple of times....but this is one performance he can be proud of... Preity Zinta doesnt have much of a role ....n she doesnt look that gud in her new avatar....she looks pretty aged in the film..her fans will b disappointed....dont go to c this movie for Preity Zinta! Amitah bachchan doesnt impress as well....and neither does Om puri... though the supoprting cast including Boman Irani are supreb.
Overall, Lakshya is a very sincere attempt from Farhan Akhtar...though not a masterpiece like DCH...it still is worth every penny of your ticket...Go 4 it !!
Just to add, I saw the film in the Innovative multiplex at Bangalore and it is by far the worst multiplex I have ever been to....go somewhere else to c the movie if possible!
