Lakshya - A album worth the wait

The songs and the trailors for Lakshya have been long time coming. I waited and finally on friday I bought the CD and it is quite good. Read on .....

The first song ’’Main Aisa Kyon Hoon’’ which is being shown for about once every 6 minutes is quite good. Seems likes a R&B no. with piano tones put in which actually sound nice. Also at the end 1 minute of the song, it feels time for some kind of rap into it. It might have worked. It is a song after repeated hearings makes it ever better.Overall I would give it 9/10.

Second Song ’’ Agar Main Kahoon ’’ . I feel this is the song which is going to pick up in the coming weeks. It is sung very well and a romantic song which is set in a very contemparory setting. It sounds fairly mediterranean with the guitar. Decent guitar fusion in the middle, sounds good. This is the best song of the album along with the first song.I would give it 9/10

Next ’’Kitni Baatein ’’. This seems like a song made for the toilet break during the running of the film. It is a good song, but I didn’t like it a lot. It might be good to see it in the film. It is sung very well by Hariharan. This has a bit of D.C.H. ( Dil Chaahta Hai) and a bit of AR Rehman in it. I would give this 7.5/10

’’Lakshya’’ This song seems like the song which might be set with Hrithik finding his mission or Lakshya. This is a typical Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy style ( soft rock in the background). Heard this a lot in Kal Ho Na Ho/Armaan. I feel this song would be set with Breathtaking scenery of Ladakh/IMA/ Delhi. Should be a good song to watch. I would rate it around 8.2/10

’’ Kandhon Se Milti Hain Kandhe’’ . This is the war song, but unlike the usual JP dutta war songs. This is more upbeat and is a good song. This is a song something Shankar Mahadevan had created for Dus ( the movie that never came out). It is sung fairly well by the singers. The theme in the background is the same as the Victory Theme song. Looks like the overriding theme song in the movie. Decent song. Would give it 8.5/10

’’Seperation’’ This is the first of the 2 instrumental songs in the Album. This is a good song with an international appeal. There is a hint of the Kal Ho Na Ho theme song. These guys can set good orchestral pieces. I would though call it a bit short at 2:30 minutes. I would give this piece 8.5/10

’’Victory’’ The final instrumental song. I like this piece the best. Its start is similar to D.C.H’s aakash love theme. The lakshya theme song ( the overriding music in this song and kandhe and I am sure it will be there in plenty during the movie). This is a song if you close your eyes brings you visions of flowers/valleys/happiness. It starts out with happiness, then the middle part seems like the war and then finally there is the peace, which brings about the victory song. It has a bit of similarity with the LOTR theme. A fairly good theme. I would give it 9/10.

Overall the album would not find mass appeal. I think it is one of those Albums which you either love it or hate it. It has more western pieces as opposed to pure hindi melody songs. However I think this works and this along with Meenaxi/Yuva is the best music of the year. Though this movie won’t give the music directors awards.

The music works very well with the vision of the movie. Jaaved Akthar’s lyrics are fairly good too. overall the album would get 8.5 ( Meenaxi would have got 8.3 with Yuva just getting 8.9/8.8) .
