I certainly had better things to do on a Sunday and god only knows why I picked this book from the library though I was already in the middle of another book based on Michaelangelo (Await the review).
If I sound like a person with lots of spare time - trust me my glass is overflowing and I struggle to complete my chores with my all female family (btw I am the only male member in my family of 6 And its fun, this is not a pun, being part of this group)
Coming back to John Grisham, A Time to Kill was most certainly a book meant not for killing time and so was The Firm, The Partner among others ...but now I guess he is overdoing it.
The obituary is as follows: I feel sad to announce the death of the literary skills we suspected John Grisham had. Further I am happy to announce that I will not be reading any more books of his. Amen
The Last Juror
A beautiful young widow mother of 2 gets brutally raped and murdered in front of their kids and before dying reveals the name of the murderer - one Danny Padgitt (member of a very influential and cruel family).
This incident happens in a sleepy small town of Mississippi in 1970. So what follows is a short trial where the jury find him guilty & sentence him for life..and Danny swears revenge on the jury !!!
Danny is released on parole after a few(9/10) years and the murders start ..
The narration of the book is thru a young journalist who works for The Ford County Times & becomes the owner of the paper at the age of 23.
The books talks more about this person, his parties, his office, his association with families in Ford County Yawn..
Overall the pace of the book is very lethargic and the plot is nothing to rave about & the climax is pathetic.
To keep the review short and simple - PLEASE AVOID THIS BOOK EVEN IF YOU ARE A JOHN GRISHAM FAN. And spend time sleeping.
