John Grisham is one of the best contemporary authors in the modern era and has the unique ability to captivate his readers through gripping story plots.
His latest novel ? The Last Juror? is no exception.
Right from the very first page the story sort of grips you and compels you to turn page after page till you finish the novel.
Like most of Grisham?s other novels this too is based in the rural America and is in the 1970?s era.
The story is based in Mississippi and is about a young and enterprising 23 year old college drop out Willie Traynor who suddenly decides to purchase a once colourful newspaper- Ford County Times.
His fortunes rise when a young mother is brutally raped and murdered by Danny Padgitt, a member of the dreaded Padgitt mafia clan.
The young owner of the Ford County Times spares no detail and does everything to highlight the brutal scenes and Danny Padgitt is found guilty.
He is given the life imprisonment but during those times in Mississippi ; was practically a joke and Danny managed to get himself paroled in 9 years and the revenge began.
The beauty of the story lies in the treatment by the author that compels you to use your own mentality to guess why and how things are happening.
The relationship between the protagonist Willie Traynor and the black woman-Miss Callie is heart warming and the end practically brings tears to the eyes.
Am seriously looking forward to the next Grisham novel.
Will review the other novels by the same author that I have read and can safely state that none of his books have disappointed me.
