Lata Mangeshkar - Nightingale Of India Born on September 28, 1929 in Indore .
Her father Dinanath Mangeshkar was also a classical singer, he gave her a lesson of singing from the age of five .In 1942 her father expired, so she had to look after the whole family so she acted in 8 films both hindi and marathi ie from 1942 to 1948
Lata Mangeshkar has been active in all Indian popular and light classical music , sung film songs, ghazals, bhajans and pop. It’s a god given musical gift to her.
In 1991 edition when her entry disappeared , Gunniess Book of Records listed her as the most recorded artist in the world with not less than 30, 000 solo, duet and chorus-backed songs recorded in 20 Indian languages .
The first film in which she gave a playback singing was Aap Ke Sewa Main , but when she entered the industry , there were also other great singers like Noorjaan , Shamsaad Begum so her singing was unnoticed
In 1949 her four films that is Barsaat, Andaaz, Dulari and Mahal had excellent songs , specially Aaega Aanewalaa song.
In 1950’s she ruled the whole industry, even her sister Asha Bhosle joined her in 1950’s and both the sisters became the queens of Indian playback singing .
Her Memorable songs were - Bekas Karam Kijee from Mughal-e-Azam released in 1960 ‘s .
Chalthe Chalthe from film Pakeezah released in 1972 .
Rasik Balma released in 1956 from film Chori Chori and many more .
From 1980’s Lataji concentrated more on shows abroad.
Her biggest hits of 90’s were - Hum Aapke Hain Kaun (1994) Dil To Paagal Hai in (1997), Maachis and Dil Se (1998)
Lata Mangeshkar is also a A Phalke Award winner for her contribution to Indian Cinema and she has also got Indias highest civilian award & also Bharat Ratna Award.
