Average phone with some very bad things

I purchased this phone about 3 years ago, from Flipkart. It cost me 6000 Rs. roughly, and was pretty decent phone at that time.

The piece I had received was actually a defective piece in which, the LCD panel(the display) was a little bit popped out of the body. I noticed it but didn’t bother since touch was nice and responsive. Had I known that this experience is common with other users too, I would have replaced my device like many users did.

But later on I observed that touch is not very good at all. When I tap and hold on the screen, it kind of vibrates(not the phone, but the objects on the screen). Looks like the touch is being sensed at many different positions even around my thumb where I have touched. It is a very bad experience since I can not use pinch to zoom in/out due to this problem. But I somehow found few tricks to overcome this issue, so that’s not a problem for me at all now.

The phone came with Android JellyBean 4.1.2, which never got any update from Lava. It has 512 MB RAM which was pretty decent at the time I bought it.

The RAM management of the phone is a little below average. I used to have less than 150 MB RAM free at start.

It ran popular-at-that-time-Games like Temple Run(1 & 2), FL Commando etc flawlessly. I always enjoyed FL Commando on this phone.

But Subway Surfers had occasional lags, which I think was due to the badly written game. I

The phone did heat up after extensive gaming and especially under 3G internet use, which seemed normal because it never burnt my hands.

According to my experience, over time, I have found some ways to keep RAM free as much as possible. First of all I needed to cleanup the bloatware, the preinstalled apps, especially facebook which I seldom use as an app. And all of the bloatware is uninstall-able. So we don’t need to worry. Second thing to do was to use Greenify which is the best for keeping RAM free.

Coming to the calling experience. THIS PHONE HAS A VERY HUGE BUG.

After a call ends, the screen doesn’t turn ON even after pulling it away from my ears. So we CAN’T END THE CALL FOR A CERTAIN PERIOD OF TIME.

I can press the power button, but the screen is unresponsive for about a minute. After the 1 minute, the screen automatically comes up then I can end the call.

I suggest the people using this phone, to mark the "Power Button Ends Call" option in Settings > Accessibility. So that you can end call even if the screen doesn’t come up.

But the calling reception is excellent. I never faced any issue in it.

Build Quality - the build quality is great, just like the Nokia phones do. I have dropped this phone on floor more than 10 times till date, but the screen or body never got broken.

Camera - The phone has 5 MP primary camera which is very good in daylight but very poor in night and under artificial lights.

Also, if you capture images of papers containing text, it is NOT readable which will be pretty good in other 5 MP camera phones.

The battery that comes with this phone is very poor, with only 1400 mAh capacity.

It can survive for a day with minimal use and less than 1-2 hour of gaming. All this is for lowest brightness on the phone, which is quite high even at lowest setting.

However, if you are the person who likes high brightness, it won’t last even until 3-4 pm.

Loudspeaker is not good or loud. It makes some stuttering sound at loud volumes.

But the front speaker for calling is very good and loud for ears.

Overall, this is an average phone(at some points, below average) to have. I am STILL USING THIS PHONE as primary. I am very satisfied with the phone despite having many issues that over time I got habituated.
