I am a big fan of Microsoft, Samsung and Motorola mobiles. There was this day when I tried to give a second thought on other vendors in market and bought Lava X5 in Jan 2015 for my parents.
Initially I when I looked at the built and design of phone, I just fell for it. The device was packed with Quad-Core processor and 1 GB RAM. As a technical person I at least had the confidence that it should run seamlessly when it is not loaded with the apps with this configuration.
After a week I realized that it was a huge mistake going with Lava phones. It started lagging when swiping across the screens. I dont understand what mechanism the engineers had put in it to automatically reduce the performance of device.
When I checked the RAM consumption I observed that 75% is occupied for no reason. Over the months it just became dead slow.
I have been using Microsoft Lumia 535 with same configuration for last 2 years and It can still beat this shitty phone in all aspects.
Motorola G had the same configuration and perform well over the time as well.
First I thought that it is about hardware that vendor uses and hardware configuration only makes the difference in phone performance but that is not the case. It is about how efficiently the customized layer over the android stock ROM has been developed.
Vendors like Samsung, Motorola and Sony do it efficiently.
