Just today I have visited this place and cant stop myself from writing a review about this restaurant. It is situated at the 5th block of Koramangala, Bangalore; just opposite to the famous Jyothi Nivas College. Its very easy to reach, as many other landmarks like The Empire hotel, Infosys Reddys building office, Hydrabad house, etc are at the stones throw distance. The credit of discovering this place entirely goes to my hubby, who often comes here for his lunch. Their specialty is Roll, and no doubt, these rolls are really so delicious.
Ambiance and Decor:
Nothing much to say in this category. The kitchen is at the ground floor, because it is easy to make and serve rolls in an open-air kitchen. The main customers are the students of Jyothi Nivas college in weekdays, but today also we noticed quite a big crowd there. The sitting arrangements are at the first floor. Getting a table is a general problem in weekends. Somehow we managed a table near the AC, as it was horribly hot at the corner tables. However, the smoke and smells from ground floor can become a problem if you are sitting near the staircase. Unfortunately our table was there, we had to ignore that. No music, nobody expects one also; we waited for the waiter to take the order.
Customer service:
I should say, they are quite slow and god-knows-why, seems distracted most of the time. A person came to take order after 10 minutes, of which I made a note. Quite unusual, no water was served to us till the food arrived. The food came after 25 minutes wait, then only the water was served! Well, the main reason for the delay should be our order , I thought. As we ordered the Murg Sheek Kebab and Chicken Egg roll along with Coke, we thought that the preparation time will be like that. So when the food arrived after a long wait, we didnt mind really. But to my surprise, the Kebabs were just warm, not hot. If they prepare it now, it should be hot. The rolls also didnt come as per our orders, they served the chicken roll without the egg. When told, they changed it promptly, which is appreciable. The coke was not served till we were half way finishing our kebabs, so we reminded them about it. We were informed then that coke is over. We decided to take Sprite instead. Billing and other services were good, we didnt get any other odd to notice.
Food and presentation:
For the food we had this expedition, and frankly speaking, they didnt disappoint us. The rolls were really hot, crispy, with less oil and bigger chunks of chicken kebabs. It would be much better if they added chilly sauce, mustard and Tomato ketchup like Kolkata rolls, we had a feeling. But other than that, very tasty, I should say. The sheek kebabs were also very delicious, the perfect blend of spices and chicken mince made a total gastronomic delight. The green chutney served with the sheek was very tasty, planning to make this at home now. Serving size is good, 3 pieces of sheek kebabs and a roll, sufficient to sooth a grumbling stomach. The sprite made a perfect combination but I felt it would be better if coke was there.
They served green chillies pricked with toothpicks along with the rolls, I tried to take a picture of this also. But could not take the snap because they removed it so fast from our table! Poor me, missed the chance to show you all this unique presentation!
Value for money:
Well, the package is absolutely pocket friendly. We paid a bill of Rs. 264. In a place like Koramangala, its quite normal. The rolls are around Rs. 52 each, the sheek was around Rs. 120. Cool, didnt burn a hole in my pocket. What else do I need? Enjoyed a hearty meal, thats all. Going back there next time? Yes, obviously I will do. I have to check their other starters and Biryani. But they make awesome rolls yaar, why dont you try these once if you are in Bangalore? Go for it, I am sure that nobody will be disappointed.
