Le Meridien -Best place to be in Mauritius

I spent my honeymoon in Mauritius in the first week of June 2010 and was amazingly surprised by the warm welcome and hospitality we received throughout our stay at Le Meridien - Mauritius.

I had booked my trip through DPaul’s tour operators which had their tie up with MyHolidays in Mauritius. I would write a separate review for DPauls’s which is also a Thumbs Up.

The moment you enter the hotel, there’s only one word you would say -WOW! Amazing view from the reception which is huge, with bar on one side. When we entered, we were greeted by the staff and asked to sit on the couch. They took the booking details from us and in the meantime offered us welcome drinks and sweets and let us enjoy the beautiful view of Indian ocean from their reception area. They have also done some arrangement so you can hear the beach waves sitting at the reception which gives such a beautiful hearing experience.

We just could not wait to explore the hotel.it spread on the beach side in a area of around 1 km with 2 storey arrangement - all facing the beach. In around 10-15 minutes we got the keys and went to the room.

We stayed in deluxe room - it is a very big room with a sitting area, bedroom, big washroom and balcony. The view from the balcony is amazing.

Le Meridien has its own private beach which offers - Free Water/Beach Sporting activities like - Water Skiing, paddle boat, sailing, swimming, beach volleyballs, table tennis, glass bottom boat ride, snorkelling etc. It also offers free - hammam, jacuzzi and sauna. It has paid spa facility( 25 min free duo massage for honeymoon couples).

Le meridien has 4 restaurants within its campus - 180 degrees (which offers - mediterranian and day based menu, Indian and chinese), Cummins - which offers Indian only, La FAYA - which offers continental and Shells -offers sea food.We never faced any problem with food - veg dishes were available in plenty. The cooks were Indians for Indian restaurants. All these four restaurants were awesome and by the beach/pool. You can enjoy candle-lit dinner daily.

The shops within Le Meridien were quite reasonable - good place to buy souvenirs - they offer lot of discounts if buy lot of things from their shop.

One evening, Le Meridien threw free cocktail party to all its guests. When I was there, there were 323 indian guests in the hotel.

The hotel hosts live band and dance shows every night and also has a separate wing for kids entertainment and everyday activities. They also take you out on tours to local villages- which are all free.

Its money well spent. Since I went through the tour operator I dont know how much it separately costs( my stay included breakfast and dinner and total costed me 54k per person for 6n 7d stay which included day tours)

You would need 2 complete days to explore the hotel itself.

The checkout process was awesome - in just 2 minutes.

The staff was very helpful and given a chance I would again like to visit Le Meridien.

Even though stay at inter continental costed more, and I was ready to go for it, the tour operator referred me Le Meridien because of its positive Indian feedback and I am thankful to them for letting me choose Le Meridien. It made my honeymoon memorable:-)
