Is Kurkure a healthy snack like what the pack says or is it a pure junk food? Since the time I have heard that kurkure is made of plastic, my kido’s health has become a matter of concern because he just loves eating kurkure. He demands to eat one pack every day. Normally he does not have spicy food. I have to specially make a non-masala sabji for him. If we say no for kurkure then he refuses to eat lunch or dinner. And he is very pampered by his grandparents and everyone in our joint family so I have no control on his tantrums. All these things are very frustrating. I read the ingredients on the pack but they sound healthy. It contains rice meal, corn meal, gram meal, edible oils, seasoning salts and spices. I was surprised and happy too because that is exactly what a mother would want a child to eat. I have tasted kurkure and it’s really tasty. I like it too, specially the orange pack, masala flavor which my child prefers is the best. Then are the discussions like ‘Kurkure contains plastic’ only rumours?
I have never believed in rumors earlier but as a mother I cannot ignore even rumors. They say that kurkure is very safe in terms of quality and safety regulatory standards but how do we know if something goes wrong in their making knowingly or unknowingly at their manufacturing place or factory which affects the quality and proves the rumor right? I have heard of a scary incident wherein a child similarly addicted to kurkure had to undergo a liver operation as the junk food had harmed the functionality of his liver. It is said that the plastic is not in it directly but in a kind of a solidified stuff and also has an addictive which makes you consume more and more of it. My friend said that she had received a forward mail which said that ‘Please don’t eat kurkure, it contains high amount of plastic and if you don’t believe then burn kurkure and see the plastic melting.’ I have not yet been able to gather the courage to do something like this. I am really puzzled, totally confused.
I am thinking of writing to them to get these queries resolved. What do you think?
