After K8 note, Lenovo has made an aggressive comeback with A5 to take on the already popular Redmi series by Xiaomi. The Lenovo A5 will directly compete with Xiaomi’s entry-level Redmi 6A smartphone, which is priced at Rs 5, 999. Upfront, the Lenovo A5 features a 5.45-inch HD+ 18:9 display just like Xiaomi Redmi 6A. As far as the design goes, it has a matte finished back with a metal coating on top. The phone fits well in hands and feels easy to operate due to its compact size.
The entry-level Lenovo A5 comes powered by a MediaTek MT6739 chipset paired with 2GB and 3GB RAM options. There will be two storage variants to choose from, with either 16GB or 32GB internal storage. Since the Indian variant of A5 starts with 16GB storage, Lenovo has included a triple slot to accommodate two SIM cards and a microSD card at the same time, so you’ll be able to expand storage up to 256GB.
Lenovo A5 sips juice from a massive 4, 000mAh battery. It also claims that the battery is good enough to power your device for two days. The Lenovo A5 comes with standard Micro-USB port. It is priced at Rs 5, 999 for the 2GB RAM+16GB storage variant, while the 3GB+32GB variant will be made available at Rs 6, 999.
In conclusion, Lenovo A5 seems like a very solid contender in the budget section. Powered by MediaTek, the smartphone has a great offering for its price. The Chinese company did take some time off from India but has now come back with a bang, eyeing a market that has been largely captured by Xiaomi.
