Lenovo IdeaPad S400 Review

Just shocked to see that there are no reviews on this masterpiece. Lenovo has been treated as underdog in front of high rated brands like dell hp and Sony. Lenovo was never in my mind before purchasing a laptop.

In the month of April I was on hunt for laptop due to emergency requirement, overall I could afford 25000 INR to my budget.

After a long research I decided to go for High end configured laptop within my budget, I started roaming to Croma & Reliance digital to find my best match, after 2-3 visits I concluded that within this budget I can’t own a graphic configured laptop with a brand tag.

(Assuming Dell, hp & Sony) :D After reading some forums and experts advice I came to know that Acer & Lenovo are also good at performance. This is how I came across Lenovo ideapad S400.

Features:

Intel Core i3 (2nd Generation) 1.4 GHz

2 GB DDR3 (upgraded to 4 GB)

Windows DOS

500 GB HDD

14 inch HD LED Display

1 GB ATI HD7450 Graphics

0.3 Megapixel HD Webcam

Bluetooth 4.0, Wireless b/g/n

Dolby Home Advanced Studio

2 x USB 2.0, 1 x USB 3.0

initially I have tested this laptop with high end applications and gaming with prior request and as per my requirements it was very nice and handled all applications at good frame rates. so I decided to go with this model with a ram upgrade.

Finally I bought this laptop at croma store and fingers crossed :p 4 its performance. I was not expecting a hard core gaming, all my requirements was to handle all the programs well and good enough. Laptop came up with 2gb, immediately I have upgraded to 4gb. Core i3 processor was very good and snappy never felt any lag since three months.

Laptop came with dos however I have managed to install windows 8 with my friend’s help. Reason for windows 8 is that it consumes less power compared to windows 7, and yes I agree to that. 1gb ATI graphics were good enough, I was able to play nfs mw 2012, fifa 12 at average fps rates, even high level programs like visual studio and photoshop cs6 work flawlessly. USB 3.0 port gives me 80-100 mbps transfer with my Sony 3.0 external hard disk.

Wrap up:

lenovo provides a 2year manufacturer warranty on board which is pretty helpful. Maintaining the ideapad s400 personally is not a big task, the bottom case is just required for total cleanup. Keyboard needs some special attention, chances of going dust particles are high. Laptops gets overheated only during Games, this issue exists in maximum gaming laptops.

Must Buy for:

Price

Design

Better Configuration

Cons:

Coming to the cons, Battery life would have been better. It has a 4 cell battery but compared to all major laptops they have 6 cell battery but still I do get 3-3.5 hrs of normal usage. Keyboard is bit disappointment in this, keys are not well placed, but still I can mention only these two major cons.

Price:

I can surely say that at 25000 bucks this is an awesome laptop with all major features. If anyone has a budget of 25k blindly go with this one, it never let you down.
