Good laptop but poor customer service.

I bought this laptop on 23rd May 2013. Back then its was the best gaming laptop that I could afford. It has 2.1GHz Intel  core i7 3rd gen processor, 8GB ram, 1TB hhd, 2 gb of NVidia GT-750M gpu, 15.6 inch 768p screen, dvd drive, 3 usb port, wifi connectivity, 1.3 mp hd webcam, led backlit keyboard, built in microphone, hdmi port, vgi port and JBL speakers, MS Windows preinstalled.

Pros-

  1. Speakers- Boy oh boys they are loud and crisp. The JBL speakers justifies its brand hype. I would like it better if it had sub woofers.

  2. Gaming- Its a gaming laptop, so gaming is its priority. It does a great job.I am able to play most of the games(FC3, Hitman Absolution, SleepingDogs) at high settings with 60 fps.

  3. Built- Its built like a tank. The all metal body gives it great strength and a mat look. It does add up the weight. Can’t complain if a gaming laptop is heavy.

  4. Keyboard- The keyboard looks savage with 3 levels of red led backlit.

Cons-

  1. Screen- The screen is poor. It produces lot of glares. Sometimes tint from the previous frame is left behind. If the screen would have better the hardware specs for gaming would have been justified.

  2. Battery- The battery initially lasted like 2 hours. Now have to keep it always on charger.

  3. Camera and Microphone- They don’t from the time I unboxed the product. I have seen many people complain about the same.

  4. Heating Issues- It has got huge vents on is left side. These vents are not capable of drawing the entire heat out. Its body gets very hot and metal a great conductor of heat makes you feel the heat even better. I have to put piece of thick cloth above the metal body near the keyboard while playing games.

  5. Customer service- I believe that any product we buy we spend 20% of its MRP on the after sales service. I would say Lenovo stole my 20%. When I called their customer care after about a month from the date of purchase that the microphones and camera isn’t doesn’t work they told me to visit their service center(P.S.- It has 1 year warranty). On the very next day I visited the service center and told that the cam and mic are not working since day 1. They told me come back after 1 week to collect the laptop. After a week when I went them they asked to come few days after. Then the same continued. Finally after 30 days they repaired the laptop and they handed me a bill of Rs 1700. I told them what about the warranty they said this fault was caused by my usage and company’s warranty is applicable on this. The people from the service center kept on saying that they cant do anything about it, its the company’s policy etc.
