Lenovo Thinkcentrre - Think before u buy

My office procured this Desktop system(10 pieces) in the year 2014. Since then I have been using this system extensively and now I think I can provide a good amount of information regarding this.

Features:

It has an Intel Core i5 3470 CPU with a max speed of around 3.20 Ghz. 2GB DDR3 Ram is there with 500GB SATA Hard Disk. Cabinet is  Tower type ATX with conventional connectors. Front Panel has 2 USB connectors and there is also DVD R/W Drive. Monitor is 18.5" Standard LCD. Bundle comes with wired Keyboard and Mouse combo. Recently Lenovo has made some change in specifications in their M93 Series models. Anyway, feature-wise it is not at all exciting considering its price. I will talk about the price in the concluding section. Our system also came with preloaded Windows 7 Professional OS.

Performance:

Whatever may be the feature of any electronic device, what counts is its performance. To be honest, the performance of this desktop is not up to the mark. The main problem is this system is too slow. RAM may be main cause of it. After installing several softwares, the machine start showing problems. The preloaded OS will always ask u to update and after some time it becomes irritating. The system hangs a lot. In my approx. 1.54 years of usage, I have encountered BSOD(Blue Screen of Death)  issue 3-4 times. The cabinet and its buttons and connectors do not feel sturdy. Another issue is the partitioning of the HDD. It has only 2 partitions for the entire 500 GB capacity and also Lenovo Recovery Drive. The pre-installed Lenovo suite has a tendency to show a pop up frequently to update their suite. The Keyboard feels good and ok to work with, but the Mouse is of very cheap quality. It does not have enough precision and the optical light sensor underneath dos not work properly sometimes.

Conclusion:

For procurement relating to the Govt. offices, there are certain Rules and Regulations. These rules compelled us to buy according to the so called DGS&D rate. Every set costs approx Rs. 40000/-. Considering this high price, the performance of the machines is very poor. In that price, u can surely get a desktop with much better configuration and significantly better performance.

Simply put, I dont trust this brand Lenovo. Though they have acquired the Hardware manufacturing part from IBM and in the market for quite some time now, still their products are not at all comparable to Dell or HP. I wont recommend this product be it for home or office.
