This review is for the white version of Vibe K4 Note. This is also my first purchase on Amazon! My key findings about this device are as follows:
The device has a good build quality. It’s a proper dual-sim phone with a dedicated microSD card slot besides the 2 micro SIM slots. The included transparent back cover is a bit flimsy; you might want to go for a sturdier back cover.
Front Dolby Atmos-enabled dual speakers offer great audio. Nothing beats a front dual speaker system!
Audio is great even over headphones. The device offers Hi-Fi audio over headphones, thanks to the built-in Wolfson DAC chip. Also personally, I have no complaints that the package does not include a headphone. I have my own cans which I prefer to use than any usual bundled ones.
There are no abnormal heating issues. The device does get warm while charging, playing games or video playback. But nothing alarming.
The battery backup is adequate. It should easily last a day with moderate usage.
The contacts application works fine for me; there are no hanging issues as some have mentioned. The device had 1 update of ~ 40MB when I switched it on for the first time.
Vibe UI offers nifty tricks like double-tap to wake or auto answer when you take the phone close to your ear. It also has flip-to-silence and flip-to-standby. The UI has been scaled back as far as the launcher interface is concerned and looks like stock Android. The icons could have been better though. Some of them actually look childish.
Display is bright and beautiful. It’s adequately sharp.
The RAM management is good with around 2 GB available for use. There have been no performance hiccups. The device can take moderate gaming without breaking a sweat. And most of the pre-installed apps can be uninstalled!
Camera is average. With adequate lighting, it takes good photographs but indoor or evening shots are passable. But I am not bothered by this as I was not looking for a camera phone.
The finger scanner works like a charm, 9/10 times. I wish it could store more fingers and allow use with applications like Sticky Password.
This is about Amazon. Though phone was securely delivered with minimalist packaging within the promised time-frame, it took 4 long days. For a metro like New Delhi, it’s not too shabby but not great either. There was no option to expedite shipping when I placed the order. But I do believe that Amazon will improve.
In short, the little time I have spent with the device has left me with positive impressions. Being a mid-range device, I knew exactly what to expect and I am very happy that I was not disappointed. Thanks for reading my review and yes, it’s a thumbs up from me!
