I had booked with Leo Best Transport for packing, loading, transport, unloading of household goods from Thane to Mangalore Karnataka. It has a registered office in S No 5, Mansion Apartments, Sector 9 Diva Nagar, Near D Mart, Airoli, Navi Mumbai but it also advertises on Google operating as from Balkum Thane.
I dealt with Mr Narottam Singh Sharma. He sent his man to view the goods and quoted a rate of 28000/-, I visited his go-down at Kahler, which is managed by one Mr Shukla. I fixed 05 Apr 24 for packing and loading of goods. On 05 April his men came with insufficient packing material and packed in a hurry the entire goods in 4 hours because in between they took a break of 4 and 1/2 hours. Though I objected about the shabby packing and told them that my luggage will be damaged they were very rude and said not to interfere with their packing and that they knew their job. While loading I was bluffed by the men that insurance will be 4% for complete coverage and as I put the value of goods as ₹200000/- I paid a sum of ₹ 8000/- as premium. The copy sent by Mr Narottam Sharma Singh of the Reliance Marine Cargo policy did not have the details of invoice. I obtained a copy of the policy from Reliance General Insurance which showed a premium of ₹ 131/-, On confronting Mr Sharma on this discrepancy he told me that he gets through an agent who gets it from another agent. See how the transporters are making money from the customer, Also Reliance company is hand in glove with these cheaters because Mr Sharma already knew that I had asked the company for copy of invoice online and he objected to my action.
But my story if being cheated does not end here. He kept the luggage in the go-down for 7 days. We called him up every day morning and evening. Initially he did not pick our calls. Both Mr Sharma and Shukla were very rude on the phone. Finally on 12 April he got our goods loaded in a truck with goods of two others. While loading he demanded a payment of ₹5000/- which I refused as I had already paid a sum of ₹ 30000/- and I had told him the balance would be given only on delivery. He threatened that my goods would be unloaded and would not be delivered. The next day after the truck was dispatched, he started harassing me for full payment of the balance or else he threatened that the goods would not reach my house. I assured him that I would pay the full balance after all my goods reached me, He also got a Mr Jay Pandey of Aditya Travels to threaten me on phone. The driver called enroute to Mangalore saying he needed money to fill diesel and I wanted my goods to reach me and so I paid him.
My goods reached me on 15 April, 10 days after it was packed and loaded. On unloading I discovered the sofa cloth cover was torn at the corners, the steel almirah was scratched and dented, the wooden tables were scratched at the corners and the plastic sacs had opened or were torn and the items had spilled out. The mattress cover is stained black. I have not yet opened all my luggage as the house is not ready but I am sure that there will be lot of glass breakage. When I tried to reach Mr Sharma, he did not pick my phone nor respond to my message.
My advice to all who require packers and movers in Thane and Navi Mumbai, please read this review and
1. Do not have any dealings with Mr Sharma who is a fraud and a cheat.
2. Also please insure your cargo directly by yourselves through Policy Bazaar or Coverfox. Do not go through the packers and movers whoever it may be .This is a big racket and where it will cost only ₹ 131, they charge ₹ 8000/-. See the difference. My impression is Reliance General Insurance is hand in glove with these cheats because as soon as I chatted online with a Reliance General Insurance executive for the invoice of my policy, Mr Sharma was informed.
3. Please take quotation with GST as later I was told that an additional ₹ 6093 was GST. This is more than the calculated 18% GST which works out to be only ₹ 5094/-. Mr Sharma answered that the insurance GST was included in this which is not so because GST on insurance is billed in the insurance invoice. Mr Sharma and his kind think that customers are fools but he will read this and realise it is not so. I do not wish anyone else to suffer as I have suffered.
