The movie bombed at the box office, though it did well on the home videos section. It is amazing to watch movies bomb pretty badly at the box office though later doing well in the Home videos.. Take any well made movie. That appears to be the case..
There’s atleast one day in everyone’s life where things just fall in place.. And the movie is completely about the one day in the life of a looser. Richard dreyfuss plays the guy who’s perenially addicted to gambling. On the day, everything he selects at the races wins. He bets around 4 times and wins all of them. He misses a turn in between and the horse he was considering bidding on looses. Now that’s called lady luck! But the amount he wins is in dispute. It would be slightly more than a half a million. (His initial bet was under 830$ dollars -the amount he owes his friend) The final winnings are not clearly mentioned. But if you sum up, it would be a cool 700k (He also spends a lot in between -on roses, champagne, shopping in between). The love story between his wife and his significant ’’other’’ interest are pretty well captured.. Pam is his wife and the other is Evangeline.

Richard dreyfuss in a different role (Jaws, Close encounters of the third kind) is paired for the second time with Teri Garr. (Close encounters) If you have seen them together in Close.. then you would understand how well they bond in the romance. Teri Garr was seen in a lot of murder whodunnits in the 80s and 90s while playing a romantic lead earlier.
Cynthia Nixon is the previous redhead star of Sex and the City.
