''One way of life and thats your own''

The first thing I have to say is that this is my favourite Levellers album because it is the first I bought. I have been listening to it for at least seven years and I never tire of it.

The Levellers belong loosely to the folk rock genre. Their songs generally have a deeper meaning, but are also real jump up and dance songs. This album contains the best Levellers song ever - One Way (’’there’s only one way of life, and that’s your own’’), as well as slower songs like Another Man’s Cause, which is about war, and its absolute pointlessness. There are some hard rocking tunes like Liberty Song ’’they’re trying to get to me to take my liberty’’. There are also spiritual lyrics, for instance Sell Out ’’Do I belong to some ancient race, I like to walk in ancient places, these are things that I can understand’’. The lyrics are wonderful and inspiring.

Every song on the album deserves to be a hit, because the tunes are great, the performance is excellent, and the words are intense. A lot of the lyrics seem more relevant these days, with all the trouble going on in the world, than they did a couple of years ago.

It also looks great. There is some wonderful artwork on the sleeve. I had the posters of this artwork plastered over my walls for years.

The Levellers are for you if you like to be made to stop and think, as well as hearing a really great song. Buy this album, and play it for the next ten years. You will never get rid of it. I defy you not to mosh when you hear the music. Also, if you get the chance, go to see them, as many times as possible!
